“Great chill out afternoon”
Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

We actually spent the whole day on the beach here, Apostolis has one of the most rustic beach bars I've ever seen, the island trip boats pull up on the beach here around 11am, by 2pm they have all left leaving us alone again to enjoy the beach, the owner has set up a fresh water shower supplied by the stream that runs past the old water mill. All the food and drinks are brought down the steep track by mules. On the bar you can see old canon balls pulled from the sea under the castle.

“Hard to get there, but worth visit!”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

If you plan to visit Kastro by car, it has to be powerful 4X4, preferably with automatic gear. Otherwise, your trip will be a nightmare, as it happened to me. Our rental car, Nissan Micra, 1.2 mechanic, hardly made the way back from the castle. It's a very very steep rocks road. I would rather recommend to take the boat. Hat, proper shoes, a lot of water and sun cream is a must have when you climb to Kastro. It's not a very pleasant journey during summer time.
But, when you finally get to the top, the view worth a million! Clear blue waters and rocks... Breathtaking! There are several very ancient churches there. Really unique saint places for those who believe. Unfortunately, we had no more power to try the beach, which looked really nice from the top...
Overall, unforgettable experience with best views on the island and extreme driving!

“Kastro beach”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Take a car and explore the island on up to kastro and the amazing beach below. Walking down the easy bit but walking up in the heat a little bit of strength required and a bottle of water. Taverna on the beach does the best Greek salad on the islands and the fresh fish to die for. Visit the old church at the top for some amazing things to look at.

“Worth a Visit”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

We took a boat trip round to Kastro and it was a lovely experience.
It's a bit of a steep climb so not ideal for anyone with walking difficulties but so worth it when you get to the top. The views are stunning and the ruins are interesting to walk round.
Don't forget your suncream because it's really hot and not much shade once you start the climb!
Back down there's a nice beach and a great taverna (recommend the Calamari it was delish).
Worth a visit and a shame to miss while on the Island.
