Need to be good walker to visit the old fort. Very interesting and great location. Suprising how many people used to live there.

We were there in the morning and had the place to ourselves. Not much to see really, but it's a fun couple of hours exploring around the various churches and ruins. In a country packed with amazing archeological sites this is pretty average, but the location alone is worth the trip. We took a well signed road to the rather new Alexandros church which is on the next point of land to the SW. The views over to the Kastro from here were just as interesting as the Kastro itself, highly recommend taking the detour.

Lots of information at the site, very rugged and not suitable for the infirm, but views lovely. Wear sensible shoes and take water.

The only interesting thing is the location . This rocky promontory is impressive and the views around spectacular. the castle itself has very few spots of interest as it mainly ruins.

The views are very nice as you actually go on the top of the rock that is in the nord of skiathos island.
The road is quite good, part asphalt, part stones, very short part only with sand mixed with stones. the last parts of the road are narraw though, but there are sides where 2 cars can share it from opposite sites :)
At some point you will reach a large semi-oval parking where it is also a small tavrrna (i think, when we were it seemed closed). Near this, on the right part, the road continues and you can advance with you car until the second parking as an amphiteatre, from where you eithrt go to the ksstro, or to the beach.
Recommendations:
- go in the late afternoon, is much better not to climb the mountain with the sun just above you; we were at 6-6.30 as the sun goes down in august around 8
- wear proper shoes; it is a mountain road or with big stones that you can feel, there is no way of going with slippers, in my opinion (check the photos)
