I stayed in Troulos on the lovely island of Skiathos. The place that i was staying in was the the Victoria Complex (bus stop 19). There is a pool with a jacuzi, Tennis courts, kids play area, games area and a loveley bar and snack area.

I stayed there in July 2008 and the weather was amazing , The staff that were there were very freindly Billy, Asiya & Fedros.. All spoke good english and attended your every needs.

There service was more than exeptional and great coctails available. The staff are funny and very entertaining and make your holiday a very memorible one.

The complex has everything you need and Troulos beach is less than a 5 minute walk away.

There is a BBQ and quiz night also on Sundays, The food is amazing which is cooked by Billy who may i add is the master of the grill and the quiz night host is Fedros who is very entertainment and get the guest laughing and socialising more than expeptional prizes to be won. I would defitnatley stay at the Victoria Complex again as everything you need is all in one area and the bus stop just outside the complex is very convinient if you want to take a trip into the town which is about a 15 minute bus ride away.

Thank you all at The Victoria Complex and hope to see you all in 2009.

Dan from Sheffield

Victoria Nikos Apartments – Troulos Bay

My friend and I have just come back from a holiday in Skiathos staying at the Victoria Complex.

There are 2 areas of accommodation. One side of the road where the café, bar, supermarket, garage and pool is located are some accommodation rooms then across the road are apartments going up the hill with a fabulous Taverna half way up. All of these are run by the same family. The taverna up the hill is only open in the evenings and serves fab dishes. On our last day we ate at the café bar not expecting much and it was the best moussaka I ate all holiday!

Pool – Never used, it is tiny as most are in Greece, seemed plenty of sun beds, nice area etc

Bar – Small bar area, friendly staff, Billy currently running it with his girlfriend I think. Plenty of seats, most people sit on the bar stools around the bar.

Accommodation – Those staying in the apartments, be warned extremely steep hill. When you arrive you will leave your suit cases on the supermarket where you get dropped off. The girl who works there runs this side of things as well as the supermarket. See her with any problems. Ensure you ask which side of the hill you need to walk as we ended up all the way to the top then back down again as we couldn’t find ours! Your suitcase will be taken on a scooter up the hill not long after you arrive. There isn’t any air conditioning in the rooms and it is suffocating at night. We left patio doors open. No bites.

Rooms are large, one wardrobe, dressing table, one bedside table. Small table and metal chairs on balcony. Fab views of hills and great sunrises. Room had kitchen sink and 2 electric rings, basic utensils from memory, didn’t really use them. We stocked fridge with vodka, coke, water, melon & milk from Supermarket when we got there. Don’t forget anything though, not good to have to go back down again!! We tended to go when got off bus and share the load!!

Clean, small towel and small bath towel changed twice in the week we were there. Few pegs and a hanger off the balcony supplied. Small bar of soap supplied in bathroom. We bought emergency toilet roll and did have to use one!

All very friendly and there to please you, we booked room for extra 3 hours, could only have it to 3pm but better than 12 so we did day on beach, back at 2ish to shower then into the café bar for meal before coach picked us up at 5. You leave your suitcase outside the room and again the lad on the scooter brings them down.

Taxi to Skiathos town is 9.50 euros, haggle though, we were waiting for a bus and just missed one, taxi pulled up knowing this and tried to get us to take the cab, I just said now much, then no thanks and in end got it down to 6 euros!

Bus routes fab, though we did catch one in the am for stop 16 and ended up in Skaithos town, we didn’t know where 16 was and the bus packed full of people. The conductor forgot to call us. We later discovered there is a bell on the roof of the ceiling but in this instance it wouldn’t have helped as we didn’t know where the beach/bus stop was, it had just been recommended.

Beaches
Troulos Bay – 4 out of 5 – To the left is the Bay Hotel which you can use, but go to the right to the last lot of sun beds, quieter and fab taverna behind them, slow service but eh this is Greece, fab food though, bloke great and good English. Also take some bread out and just to the right of the entrance on the beach a small river ends and there are turtles or terrapins, pop some bread, the large fish will come first then the turtles.
Water sports there but the 3 times we visited the beach no-one used them, but there if you would like. Some kind of boat trip leaves the Bay too at 9.50 each day, details are on a lamppost as you enter the road by the Frog Bar down to the beach
5 minute walk to beach from apartment.

Koukanairies – 3 out of 5 – Loved at first, great for kids as gently sloping & all sand. , very busy beach though. Well laid out, toilets spotless someone perm cleaning them.
Taverna’s, water sports etc. Just far to busy for us.

Nostos – 5 out of 5 – I loved this beach, everything for me, slightly rocky when entering the sea but not enough to warrant sea shoes. Good snorkelling, small bay, quiet. Small bar which served small selection of toasties which we had for breakfast, could take drinks down to beach. The taverna opened at lunch, locals ate there, more kind of a restaurant, great food, service, setting etc.

Kolious – 5 out of 5 – again I loved this beach, sandy and in the sea. Good snorkelling, Very quiet bay. Some sunbeds have air filled mattresses, they are just so comfortable! School children learn to swim on one end. Other end there are few rocks where you can see sea urchins, hermit crabs etc.

Trolous itselft is spread over 3 bus stops, which walking from one end to the other would take around 15 min. Try all of the taverna’s ! Especially one at Victoria.
