A luxurious hotel recently renovated with good taste ! Very close to the main port of the island, great rooms, small but elegant pool area, Bloody Mary the best I ever had !!!!!! Noisy because of the square in front of the hotel, but you can choose a room at the rear of the hotel.

This hotel has recently been renovated and is one of the most beautiful hotels I've seen. They haven't skimped on the furnishings and the rooms are lovely.
The only problem is the noise from the square in front of the hotel, which is full of revellers and kids riding bikes until the early hours of every morning. The noise from the square interrupts the dining on the front verandah too. So if you are a light sleeper, get a room at the rear of the hotel or stay somewhere else. Hopefully at some point they will double glaze the front windows. Then it will be perfect.

Dear Guest,

First and foremost, we wish to thank you for posting your trip advisor review. We are always keen to learn about our guests’ experiences and take all comments very seriously.

We are happy to know that your stay with us was overall pleasant and thank you for recognizing our extensive restoration effort to bring the hotel up to date with the quality its history deserves.

In response to your comments regarding the level of noise due to the bustling square in front of the hotel, we understand that the noise level, particularly in peak season can be a bit of nuisance for some of our guests. We have tried to insulate the rooms for noise, but the evening gatherings in the square can become really quite lively. The square has historically been a meeting point and continues to be an important social space and stages cultural events throughout the year. It offers a glimpse into the daily life of the Spetses community while also being the best vantage point for enjoying the annual Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta, the Spetses mini marathon, the Easter and Armata festivities and many more. Unfortunately this does mean that the noise level can sometimes cause some disturbance for some of our guests.

If you plan to visit us again in the future, please allow me to extend an invitation to personally get involved and ensure that your accommodation will be suited to your needs and that you have a pleasant and restful stay.
Sincerely yours,

Anastasios Naoum

Beautifully set on the seafront - in the town and only three minutes walk from the ferry pier. Old but well kept and renovated hotel, with an elegant pool area and a little garden at the rear - and a new wing just behind it. This is where the Superior Garden View rooms are. We had one on the ground floor with a large terrace and immediate access to the garden. Although the street runs just behind the new wing, we experienced no disturbance from the traffic here.
Room was spacious, bright and delicately decorated in the old style. Bathroom was large and delicate, too, had all amenities needed - but had the traditional english bathtub with shower, ie You have to sit in the tub and hold the shower at the same time... Rooms were cleaned three times every day (!) - fresh, crisp linen provided every day if You wanted, towels changed twice daily. Such a luxurious flair!
Breakfast served in the restaurant was good, but service a little comme ci comme ca. Dishes ran out (many small plates on a buffet) and took very long to be refilled, especially in the weekend when the hotel was fully booked. Curious, as it is a hotel with only 20 rooms or so - and the headwaiter had a list with all the guestnames to tick off and still I felt a lack in preparations?
The staff seemed friendly, but a little distant. We had most contact with the chambermaids, and they were very helpful and kind!

All in all we had a wonderful week and would love to come back to this very appealing boutique hotel. Wonder why it is not a member of Small Luxury Hotels?

Room Tip: Choose a Garden room on the ground floor - the ones on the first floor have very small balconies.

Excellent hotel, well run, great food , lovely modern rooms, smallish balconies, two bathrooms , excellent luxury. Room amenities are very good too. Cocktails on the veranda terrace are delicious, especially Bloody Mary and some other specialities by F&B director Kostas.

Room Tip: Second floor suite excellent.

We stayed at the Poseidonion Grand Hotel while attending the wedding of friends. The staff greeted us so warmly, with iced water and lemonade on a hot afternoon. The rooms were cool and serene, with gray and white interiors, comfortable beds, luxurious linens and a fabulous view of the sea. Enjoying cocktails on the front terrace was one of the highlights, late at night while people walked below, taking advantage of the cool evening air. Dinner was superb, light and tasty. The island is small and quaint, but we felt so luxurious and pampered. It's a bit of a hassle to get there on the passenger ferry, which was crowded and stuffy, and takes 3 hours. Returning to Petraeus the ferry was 20 minutes late arriving, which made our connection to Athens airport a kamikaze run to make the flight. There's always a helicopter, but pricey. Nonetheless, it was worth the multiple transfers to get there and we would definitely return.

This hotel is a refurbished old building and offers excellent facilities and staff. The food is very good but overall it is a bit expensive. Lovely swimming pool and great outlook, the wifi is unstable but otherwise an excellent hotel.

We have returned to this wonderful hotel for another enchanting stay (this time for 10 nights).
Do not hesitate to book here. The rooms and views are beautiful. The staff are wonderful and, if anything, levels of service have improved this year. Ira, on reception, is particularly worthy of comment for her faultless service and charm.
The food and setting of the Japanese restaurant, Freud Oriental, are marvellous.
I have only one grumble (which during a 10 day stay is quite remarkable in itself). We did not enjoy the food at "On The Verandah". Indeed, I would give the whole restaurant a miss in the future. We live in Central London and eat regularly in the finest restaurants in town. We also know Greek cuisine very well, having visited Spetses and Athens at least twice a year for many years. However, the flavour combinations at "On The Verandah" were at best described as bizarre. At worst, downright horrid! The lowlight of the meal came in the form of a tartare of fish with both truffle oil and a very hot wasabi-like taste. Yuck!
Anyway, there are many great restaurants in Spetses: Water of Love, Tarsanas, Orloff.. so you shouldn't let our negative experience of the hotel restaurant put you off Spetses and the marvelous Poseidonion Grand.

Dear Guest,

First and foremost, we wish to thank you for posting your third consecutive review on the Trip advisor. We strive to meet and indulge the needs of every guest and thus it is with great satisfaction and pleasure that we read about your overall excellent experience at the Poseidonion Grand Hotel.

‘Even better as before’ is a true honor for us and a great title to start off with- giving us motivation to ensure complete enjoyment for all our guests. Especially as we are nearing our centenary anniversary (beginning in January 1st 2014! - stay tuned for information and many surprises), this goal becomes a tangible everyday target in all areas be it activities, the spa, services, and of course food and beverage.

We are thus sorry for your unfortunate gastronomic experience at the “On the Verandah” restaurant situated on the legendary hotel verandah.

Even more so, since we have invested a lot of care not only into issues regarding the menus, but first and foremost the sourcing of the produce and the quality of the ingredients. Since 2010, the Poseidonion Grand Hotel has its own organic vegetable and fruit garden, which supplies all the produce for the hotel, but also in many island restaurants as well, leading the way towards a more sustainable food sourcing for all of Spetses.

This is the pillar on which renowned Christophoros Peskias, (awarded with a Michelin star) has created all menus, namely the breakfast menu, the All Day Menu and the “On the Verandah Menu”. His concept, is to highlight Greek/Spetsiot traditional recipes – such as the Spetsiot spicy propyra bread for the breakfast menu – which was “lost” as a local recipe for many years and now across the island they have began baking it again after it has been featured in the hotel- and redefine them with a twist.

Moreover, this year, the majority of fish, meat, poultry and dairy products come from small Greek producers, thus boosting regional economies as well.

The above does not make up for your not enjoying the Amberjack tartar with spicy green pepper vinaigrette, but we hope it illustrates the overall concept which we are trying to achieve and which led you to evaluate the Hotel again with the highest score.

We trust that we will have the pleasure to welcome you again at the Poseidonion Grand Hotel. Please allow me to extend an invitation to dinner next time you are at the hotel and a guided tour of our organic vegetable garden, in the hope of finding next time something more satisfying for your palate.

Sincerely yours,

Anastasios Naoum
