Home is in Kaminia. Christos met us on arrival from Athen ferry, we then jumped onto a little water taxi for the 5 minute trip to Kaminia. From there we (and you!) schlep 130 m up the cobbled way to the home (Christos helping with luggage, but he cannot so it all).
Home is quite nice, but be aware that the second bedroom/bath (actually there are also two upstairs, but one is twin beds and only one bath for both rooms) is in the basement, nicley but very tight, finished and renovated. Very narrow ladder stairs down a trap door system to get there....or go outside and around. Not a big deal, but be advised.
Washer works well, dryer is a heated drying rack, quite nice. Coffeemaker is both a traditional filter one or an espresso machine that we never could figure out....but wanted to. Guess we could have called Christos to come show us but it seemed like an imposition to do so.
Small grocery 100 meters from home is the only show in town, just the basics. One can go to Hydra village at the port, a 10-15 minute gorgeous walk, if one needs more. Pirofina Restaurant was next to the grocery and became the best place we ever ate in Hydra. Prices everywhere are quite reasonable, but the high season does not start until June, so it was quiet (except for the quaint honking of donkeys occasionally and the roosters).
All in all, a fine place but only for those who wish quiet and more isolation rather than the bustle of the Hydra port area.
Waking further south on the sidewalk brings one to a variety of hidden beachy, small tavernas and total peace and quiet.
Myself and 2 friends travelled for 6 weeks and this was one of the best we stayed in. Great location, close to the beach, shops, restaurants and full of comfort.
Nicely decorated. We just loved it and the beautiful island of hydra.
Water taxi was cheap and easy to go around the corner to the main restaurants, great shops ect. Only a 3 minute walk to the water and amazing beach for swimming up just a few stairs.
Loved the below level bedroom and bathroom and terraces to enjoy the water view.
And Michael was a huge help meeting us from the ferry and showing us the beautiful villa..

A wonderful appartment, with a pleasant sea view terrace, on a car free island, with lovely beaches and a little pitoresque town with plenty of tavernas... just wonderful for a relaxing vacation.
We loved staying in this traditional stone house. It was very comfortable and can accommodate up to 6 people. Neighborhood is very quiet, about 10-15 min. walk from the port. The house had a fully equipped kitchen and very nice outdoor area to relax, eat, or have a cup of tea or glass of wine.
Hiking at Hydra is exceptional, especially off main season. We will be back.
Thank you Marilia, for your hospitality and Mike, for all the info and help during our stay!
