I have stayed here for the last 4 years, since I was lucky enough to discover Hydra and Mette's villa. I have viewed both apartments and stayed in the 50sm studio. When I awake in the morning and go out on the veranda, I set my eyes on the beautiful mountains, studying the trails that lead to the monastery and other adventures. I listen to the gentle bells of the donkeys and horses as they move about their day. Greek coffee and breakfast on the veranda is always my first order of business.
The apartment is bright and clean, the bedroom is furnished with comfortable beds, and the main room has large comfortable couch which can function as a bed. Upon arrival there is a thorough guest guide which tells you all you need to know about the island, including where to get water from the nearby cisterns. There is a full kitchen with all cookware and essential spices. There are multiple grocery stores en route, so anything you need to cook for yourself is available at reasonable cost. The bathroom is great, quite large by Greek standards, with a full size shower.
This is a quiet street, the "end of the line" so to speak, and as you walk the 15 minutes to town you meet your neighbors and local donkey drivers, who greet you with a kind "Γεια σας". The port of Hydra is lovely, and it's a short walk along the coast to incredible swimming spots where you can dive into crystal clear blue waters.
I would not hesitate to recommend Mette's place to anyone. As it mentions in the description, you should be in good shape and not mind a hike if you stay here. This is the real deal, and the tranquil reward at the end of the walk is worth it!
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment at the upper end of Miaouli Street. We stayed with our 6yer old son six days in the upper apartment in this beautiful house. The apartment is well equipped and Mette the host was very helpful. There is a a beautiful balcony with nice views. Its very quiet and relaxing. We had a wonderful time.. Mange Tak.
