Every temple in Greece is different and has its different attraction. The Parthenon is of course an icon, but it is covered in scaffolding and very crowded. Sounion has a gorgeous location, Nemea is picturesque but there isn't much left. Corinth is also iconic, and it seven columns stand proudly over the village. But Aphaia is a breath of fresh air for those who want to understand what a temple might have looked like in its heyday. It isn't completely reconstructed, but enough has been put back together that you get a sense of the majesty and the monumental size of these places. It isn't as busy as many of the other sites and doesn't take a long time to see, but is definitely worth the visit. There is also a small museum with some pretty good signage in English as well as multiple bathrooms. Right outside is a little cafe/souvenir shop that serves coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice (2 euros) and ice cream, so it is a refreshing stop. You can also pass by Agios Nektarios church which is also worth a visit on the way back.

A temple in a good condition with no scaffolding to support it and substract from its beauty in an amazing spot overlooking the Aegean on all sides . Unfortunately there is only one guard to issue tickets and overlook the place. So when we went there were some people jumping over the ropes that prohibit access inside the temple , and entering to take pictures. When we complained they said they had special permission which they didnt. So do go and enjoy it but also show the place the respect it deserves as a site of worship for thousands of years.

Everyone must visit the Temple of Aphaia! It is amazing to see that in the rocky hill, many thousand years ago, Ancient Greeks had built this temple complex. The front desk employee will provide you with a brochure of the history of the temple! I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

My sister and I loved our visit to the Temple of Aphiai. The museum was filled with interesting artifacts and information. At the Temple site it was fantastic to be able to walk in and around the temple and village.
