“A special little place in a beautiful village.”
Reviewed October 5, 2008

A perfect place to stay in a magical little village. The room was a beautiful, clean, spacious little oasis. The bathroom was functional and very tastefully decorated. Breakfast consisted of lots of home made little goodies. Service was impeccable.

This place is just excellent in every sense. The property is very beautiful and furnished with great care. The staff at the lobby is extremely helpfull and friendly. The room is like five stars, the breakfast excellent. The owner prepared for us some home-made cakes to eat and we also tried a warm "pita". Location is very easy to reach by car, a few minutes away from the site of Mystra.

We just felt like kings, everything was perfect! Thank you!!

This renovated stone manor house is beautiful inside and out. The room was large as was the bathroom. Everything luxuriously appointed and functional. The room was super clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. When we first arrived they brought some water and sweets to the room. Our room looked out on the small orange grove and the trees were in bloom filling the room with a wonderful scent. There is free internet service in the room which was very fast. The location is great with a short walk to the town square of Mystra where there are several tavernas to choose from. The drive to the fortress is only about 2 km from the hotel. The breakfast was superb with most items made on the premises like the bread and the cookies. They served us a hot cheese filled breakfast bread that was really good. If you are going, take the road from Sparta to Mystra. There is a turn off to the left before you get into Mystra with a sign pointing to the hotel. Follow the hotel signs but when you make the last left turn where it says 100 meters, be aware that you come up on the back side of the hotel and the name is written in Greek. We went right past it and ended up on top of a hill. There is a small parking across and down from the hotel big enough for about 5 cars.

As other reviewers have pointed out, this is a wonderful hotel located in the town of Mystras, just minutes away from the historical site. We had the very large Blue Room, with a wonderful, large bathroom. After a strenuous walk uphill at the site of Mystras, it was great to relax in the garden before taking a short walk into town for dinner at one of the tavernas. Breakfast was delicious and filling - just wish we had been able to stay for more than just one night!

This is simply an exquisite property. The hotel is an old stone mansion that was apparently gutted and rebuilt to include all the latest in plumbing, wiring, etc. In other words, it seems no expense was spared to ensure luxury accommodations.

We booked a double room, but Maria upgraded us to the "Gold" room which has windows on three sides with a view of the Sparta valley to the east and an view of ancient Mystra to the west. This room is directly underneath the grand suite and the staff seemed to think these are the best rooms as far as views are considered. The furnishings were simply lovely. The bathroom was not large, but not too small, and included the best toiletries, slippers, robes, and linens. Again, all plumbing top notch, and the room has central air conditioning. The bed was extremely comfortable.

The courtyard below our room has orange trees, which were blooming during our stay (3rd week of April), and the perfume at night coming through our open windows was heavenly. The Peloponese in springtime is just the best!

Because we were the only guests for our one-night's stay, we were given a tour of most of the other rooms. They are all lovely (the blue room is especially so with a very large bathroom and wooded views).

The breakfast "spread" was almost too lovely to eat. Way too much food for two people but we did our best.

The town of Mystra is very pretty and quiet and we are so glad we didn't stay in busy Sparta. There is a stone-paved walkway just across the street from the hotel that leads into the town which has many tavernas. Ask the staff for recommendations.

The only problem was leaving. If you need a day just to relax, this would be the place

Previous reviewers have covered most of what I would have said. It is a beautiful hotel, really tastefully decorated. The breakfasts are great and Maria is a wonderful hostess. We particularly liked the small touches like leaving a small easter cake in our room along with candles for the Easter Sunday midnight service. While it's definitely pricey for Greece, it's worth the splurge in my opinion. Our room didn't have a dvd player but did have some satellite tv channels. Xenia restaurant (on the way up to the site of Mystras) has great pizzas.

The Pyrgos Mystra is an absolutely gorgeous inn tucked into the most beautiful surroundings. The amenities are perfect, the bed was luxuriously comfortable, and the bathroom was the best we had in all of Greece. The design and decor are understated elegance, with no expenses spared. We stayed in the Blue room which we found large and the views from all windows were breathtaking. Of 6 different accomodations, this was my favorite. Everything that has been previously written is absolutely true, and the website does not adequately portray the quality of the inn. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and included homemade preserves and baking. If I went back to Greece, this would be my first stop. This is one of the loveliest places we have ever stayed.
