Very interesting and very thorough descriptions of olive processing from ancient to modern times. Loved the simulations of olive processing plants.

“As a good museum should be- informative and entertaining”
Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

Stuck in the corner of Sparta, the museum is a modern and very well designed building. The easy to follow panels and great visual displays, video and artifacts make it an easy going museum. The outdoor life size replicas and restored equipment put into perspective.
Just like in other parts of the world (coconut in Sri Lanka, cocoa beans in S. America and corn in Central America) the olive has its place throughout Mediterranean history.
The only thing lacking here is either a tasting or buying option for various olives / oils.
Definatley worth an hour or two of your life.

“Not an ordinary museum”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We've visited the museum many times when being with guests. Every time it's also for us a joy the view the exhibition. It's not a museum with many shards etc. in order to fill the space, but a travel though times of the olive production and its spinoffs. For young and old the museum is very educative. A must to do when in Sparti.
