We took the MSC East Mediterranean cruise in April 2012. Our first port of call was Katakolon, Greece. We heard that the cruise line excursions were way over priced and that we should book our own. We contacted Andrew Stathopoulos through his web site and he responded to us immediately. It was nice to get off the boat and see our name on a card in his window. The cruse line excursion people have to gather into groups, load onto buses, and caravan out to the sites. We just jumped into Andrews very nice Mercedes and off we went. We coordinated for Andrew to purchase our museum tickets before we arrived so we didn't have to wait in that line either. Andrew is very professional and courteous and provides a personal tour from a local, not the canned script read by someone that has no real knowledge of the area. On our way back to the ship, we asked about where we should go to purchase some local olive oil. Andrew called his wife on the phone and, on the way back, dropped by his house and got us a bottle of his own, home made olive oil; he also gave us a bottle of his home made wine as well. Andrew took us to and from the sites via different routes, so we got to see more of the countryside than we would have on the cruise ship excursion as well. If you will be visiting Katakolon, your best option is to book a tour with Andrew. He made our short stay very fun and interesting, there's nothing quite like the personal touch. Thanks again Andrew!
