An important archeological site, but not so much is still standing. So if you have visited many others in the previous day, you might be deceived. However for anyone interested in history, this place is of extraordinary importance.
The treasury of Atreus (a huge tomb) is just outside the archeological site and is even more interesting. You can enter it.
However the panorama from the site is worth the visit in itself. Huge mountains and valleys. Pictures, pictures...

There are three main things you want to see here. 1 is the lion's heads as you enter the grounds. The second is the tomb. Not much left. The third is a small "hut". The views are nice, but, really, there is not much to see. Spent less than an hour here. Take a trip to Delphi instead. Much more to see.

I only remembered the Lions' Gate but outside of it are 2 tholos: Clymnestra (full dome) and Aegitus (dome has collapsed) - not too be missed together with the Treasure of Atreus, about 500m before the site (included in the ticket).

Very interesting site though much of it is in ruins though there is still lots to see and the location of the ruined city is stunning. Be sure to visit the Treasury as well which is included in the ticket price but around 300 metres down the road from the main site.

It is so worth to visit this site, along with the Lion Gate and the Citadel/Treasury sites. If you rented a car, you should start with the ancient site, which will take you to the Lion gate. Then upon completion, you will drive few minutes to the second site, the Citadel/Treasury place. All included in your ticket price (remember not to misplace your ticket stub).

It is really awesome to feel the history in front of your eyes!

There is quite the climb up to the top so ensure you have sun screen protection, a hat, good shoes and plenty of water. Also ensure you leave nothing exposed in your car before you leave. When we were there, there was a suspicious subject placing advertising on peoples cars, however attempting to open "unlocked doors". Be aware.

Other than that, I would suggest no more than three hours or so to visit these sites. Well worth it though!
