“Overpriced”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

I was happy I only stayed one night here. The location was fine (very close to bus station), the reception staff was very helpful but I was very unimpressed with the room. The first thing I noticed was loose power outlets in the walls, which is never a good sign. The mini-fridge in the room was not plugged in. But even when I plugged it in, it did not work and it had a stale musty smell. When I opened up the drawers in the wardrobe they also had a terrible smell as though they had not been aired in months. The information sheet in the room said it was recently renovated. I can only assume that was printed a long time ago as the room was very tired and due for refreshing.

The room rate of 45 euro did not include breakfast and I didn't feel like paying extra if the quality of food was anything like the room. Luckily I found a nice bakery a couple of streets away for a coffee and cheese pie (I don't remember the name but it seemed to be popular with locals). Overall, I don't feel the standard of the accommodation was worth the price.

We only spent 1 night here but our room was basic, clean and comfortable.

We were lucky to be able to park very close to hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Our room did not include breakfast so cannot comment on it.

Good value for money at this time of year. Recommend a room away from noisy street.

the price was right and the room clean.
fairly quiet at night, easy access to city.
in the morning, tried to use credit card to pay; clerk ran 2 credit cards proved to work in greece, said both were declined. he didn't even appear to be trying to run the cards.
denied having a room for the following night despite saying contrary before that.

ephira is not a new hotel - it has had a coat of paint and an attempt at refurbishing but is worn down and very old-fashioned (in all respects!)! Nonetheless - it's its location which is spot on - in the center of downtown corinthos! The rooms were small - we had nowhere to put our cases and spent the whole holiday walking round them!! but the beds had very comfortable mattresses - and the bed covers were of good quality. small fridge - helped to store water and juices. clean towels everyday were a plus feature. i felt the room must have been closed up and and very stuffy and smelly upon arrival but thankfully it was september and the weather was delightful and we kept the balcony door open continuously. we were luckily given a room in the back - exceedingly quiet compared to the very busy front street - if u want a good night's sleep - worth asking for i believe! the hotel could do with a lot of improvements, lift tiny!, sign for breakfast does not specify price or times, id's are kept until payment of bill - i was even handed somebody else's i.d (scary!!)!! but - free internet use in foyer for 30 minutes - fair enough - it's a busy hotel - for transit mainly - u won't find a heaving bar!!! nice conservatory area in the back for quiet reading but filthy white cushions of sofas. all in all - we had a great holiday - we were out everyday however, bus stop is 1 second away - so convenient!! we would actually stay there again - for convenience - but don't expect anything above average - it's just not available!!!!

Our stay at Ephira was ok. As with most Greek hotels, prices are too high for the quality and service provided. We paid a reduced fee of 45, Euros because we were part of a wedding party, which was ok; anything above this price is a rip-off, considering that:
• the room was small
• no toiletries provided, besides a dispenser with soap and one, I assume, with shower gel
• no breakfast included (breakfast is an additional 7.5 Euros per person, no idea what is included)
• no safety deposit box
• noise (we were on the 5th floor, but when we opened the balcony door because of the heat, it was incredibly noisy because of street noise, even on a Sunday – of course, we could have turned on the a/c instead, which we did not)
• no parking for patrons

The good points were:
• Room was very clean
• Room contained mini-fridge, a/c, phone, TV
• Clean, soft towels
• Bed was comfortable
• Some rooms, those facing the street, also offer a view of the somewhat distant port
• Small balcony where you can dry beach towels etc
• One arm chair per room
• Plenty of storage space in cupboards and drawers
• Staff is friendly; reception is staffed 24/7
• Tourists are given a map of the area as well as plenty of advice
• There is a shop selling water bottles on the one side of the hotel, and on the other, a food place selling coffees, sandwiches and cheese pies to go (at rel. good prices)
• The street is well lit and quite safe

Would I stay again at this hotel? Maybe I would, considering that Corinth does not offer many value-for-money hotels. Some other hotels, which were at the same price range, seemed to be even more disappointing, judging from the outside. At least Ephira is clean and the people working there are friendly and helpful.

I stayed with my girlfriend for 4 days rest. Located in downtown Corinth and close to that we needed. The service was great and the rooms very clean and nicely decorated. The rest of the hotel was very nice and quiet it needs to relax. There was coffee bar with refreshments and drinks at very reasonable prices. It also could choose whether to have breakfast (buffet) that costs 5.00 euros per person. The buffet was full compared with the price you pay and included bread, ham, cheese, jam, butter, juice, coffee, cakes, tea biscuits, stewed fruit, yoghurt, eggs. The room price was very good and worthy. Really Efyra Hotel was the best choice I could do.
