My wife, six month old son and I stayed at the Lemnos Village hotel for a week during September, which happened to coincide with the resort's final week of the season. We had a fantastic week away and absolutely loved everything that the resort had to offer.

The hotel is made up of a central building, which comprises of the reception, restaurant and bar, childcare facilities and the spa. The rooms are in villas dotted around the resort. Ours was up the side of the hill, which presented beautiful views of the bay and the stunning sunset but represented a full-on workout when we were pushing the buggy back up to the room. Particularly so after a carafe of wine consumed during the evening meal! Despite this, it was clean, well equipped and spacious enough for a cot as well as twin beds, which were pushed together to make the double bed.

Food and the aforementioned wine is all included and served buffet style. The breakfast was a mix of fresh fruits, yoghurts, breads and pastries as well as cooked options. Lunch and dinner were beautiful salads as well as a fully cooked meals with a BBQ each evening and a fantastic array of desserts.

We took advantage of the tennis, the kid's club, sailing and the spa and these were all top notch made more so by the wonderful staff. I can't express how good all the staff were with the hotel manager fostering a warm and friendly culture.

Lemnos is a small and quiet Greek island, so don't expect a built-up coastline or fast-food chains close by. Instead, you'll find a relatively secluded resort with the closest town, Myrina Port, a good half an hour's walk away. Luckily, the excellent team we booked through at Travel Club Elite told us all about this in advance so we knew what to expect.

It was the first time we'd gone abroad with our little boy and while we went away with a few nerves, we came back full of confidence and this was in part thanks to Mark Warner and the team at the hotel.

Room Tip: If you've got a buggy, avoid the rooms up the hill.

I always wanted to visit this hotel previously however it was taken out of the brochure, so to see it back is excellent.

My wife and I have just returned from Lemnos Village Resort run now by Mark Warner, and it was an absolutely fantastic week. We met some really great people and was made to feel very welcome and relaxed, wherever we went on resort.

The resort itself was very clean and tidy, and the atmosphere was what you want on holiday relaxed.

George the Manager and his staff do an amazing job and I cannot praise them enough for making our stay so nice.

The hotel apartments are really nicely decorated and with an amazing view, we were in 322 which was quite high up on the hill, and the view over the bay was breathtaking. If you don't like a trek ask for a lower room as the hill is steep.

The pool was crystal clear and a nice cool temperature after sitting in the hot sun. The pool bar was a good atmosphere and the Greek lady was superb and very accommodating.

The beach was clean, plenty of sun loungers to relax with sun shades. The beach bar was great and Maria and Cleopatra really friendly and helped me improve my Greek.

The waterfront facilities were very professionally run and the staff at hand to assist, and also were a relaxed team who made you feel relaxed and made you laugh at the same time. A great crew and professional management on the beach. My wife learnt to sail and loved it so much all I saw was her laser in the distance at every possible moment, the staff took her on a cat joy ride around the bay and she loved it, so made my holiday seeing her happy.

The tennis was fantastic and very well run. 4 tennis courts of which 2 were hard courts and 2 were astro. The tennis Manager Emyr was at hand to offer advice in a very relaxed way, and we really enjoyed the social tennis which meant we could meet others, and no matter what your level you were not made to feel isolated. We entered the tournament and came third, so was very pleased.

The restaurants were very well run and Anthulla ran a tight ship and the staff were at hand to help serve the free wine!!!!! Eggs were cooked to your liking at breakfast and omelettes. Lunch was buffet as was dinner with a large variety of foods to serve everyone. My wife is a coeliac and we have a nightmare everywhere we go, but at Lemnos no issue at all gluten free pasta and freshly baked gluten free cornbread which was fantastic and plenty of choice for her. If you have not got children I advise early or later service as the noise can be loud.

The whole team were brilliant and we will be returning. Well done everyone.

Room Tip: The higher level rooms are on a steep hill so if you have small children or buggies I would advise l...

I fell in love with Lemnos in 2004/5, staying at the Mark Warner resort on the west of the island. When they lost their lease for the last few years we stayed at other Greek MW resorts, but none were ever as good as Lemnos! Imagine our delight when it became available again in 2013.
Everything was as it was, but spruced up with refurbished rooms. Never what you would describe as luxurious, but just pitched about right in terms of fit out. The pool, waterfront and tennis were all A1 and could not be faulted. The provision of mountain biking and Chadder's tours were an exceptionally welcome addition to the holiday.
The absolute nugget of this holiday is eating dinner on the terrace watching the beautiful sunset across the bay behind Mount Olympus. The food was excellent, also at breakfast and lunch. It is easy to eat healthily as the fruit and salad are so fresh and of such good quality.
Finally, mention of staff. Local Greek staff are so friendly and polite. All efficient and do their jobs to the highest standards. The MW staff at this resort, led by George, were exemplary and a credit to him.
Only small complaint, lack of beach volleyball!
In summary, this is a wonderful corner of a traditional, unspoilt Greek island with the local town of Mirina, a gem of a town not inhabited by English tourists. The location, the bay and views in particular, make this one of my favourite places I have visited......ever!! I highly recommend it.
MW, make sure you keep it as a destination for many years to come!!

We're back from a two weeks stay at this Mark Warner resort.

MW have been away from this resort for a few years, so it would be understandable for their to be some 'teething troubles'. But, we didn't encounter any. George runs a great resort, and regularly circuits the resort collecting feedback and answering questions.

The waterfront staff were great. The kit was generally of good quality, though the very gusty weather did start to take its toll on some of the dinghies.

The external water ski instructor did say that he hadn't encountered strong winds for such a long period in 31 years working in the bay! Normally I believe there's a cycle of 4 days calm, then 4 days wind, and so on. If you're just there for a week you may suffer from not enough, or too much wind. If you're there for two weeks you should be fine.

I fully recommend the Sunset Sail with Captain George. He & his wife are great hosts, and its a good opportunity to see a fresh perspective on the resort.

Chadders the mountain-bike host is a great asset to the resort, able to really engage with the transient guests that pass through the resort over the season. Beyond the off road trips he hosts, the bikes are fabulous way of getting into the Island Capital of Myrina - it's about a 20 minute cycle ride. Myrina has a pretty shopping street and a picturesque fishing port.

One word of warning. The swimming pool try-dive is a great opportunity for young kids to experience the liberty of breathing underwater. But, if your child can't touch the bottom I'd recommend you hover by the pool sight and keep them in sight for the duration of their 5 min underwater excursion. The kids will really enjoy it. But, given the shortness of the session it is possible for a negatively buoyant child to lose their regulator and not be able to recover it. The only solutions to this seem to be to either switch to a 1-1 or 1-2 ratio for the youngest children, or to hold a session in the toddlers pool for children that can't reach the bottom.

All in all a great holiday. My 10 & 12 year olds really enjoyed their separate kids clubs, the local staff are really friendly as are the people you meet in the local towns.

Room Tip: The rooms are on quite a steep hill. If you have any mobility problems, or a pushchair, I'd mak...

First a note on the flights. BA chartered from T5 Heathrow. Fantastic. Lemnos airport is tiny but pretty efficient.

The rooms have been nicely refurbished and ours was kept spotlessly cleans by the fantastic maid service. The A/C worked well, though when we were there the nice breeze was enough to cool the room down.

George and all his staff worked very hard, right from the initial welcome, to ensure that everyone had a good holiday. He is always around checking things are ok and runs a tight ship. Important when you have young staff.

Someone else has commented on the local staff in the restaurants. I would echo what they said about them being very friendly, efficient and polite.

The MW staff were super. Very knowledgable beach-front team. Always happy to help. Lots of boats. There was always something available for me to take out even during the Sunset Challenge. It is a pity that water-skiing is no longer included though it does made for a more relaxing holiday as many years ago I use to just spend a lot of time skiing or waiting to ski! My eldest daughter did the Scuba course with Scott. He is younger than he looks, but is a very good instructor.
She loved it and now has her qualification. My youngest really enjoyed the Indy Club. The yoga in the afternoon is excellent and I gather the other classes equally good. Went on two early morning mountain bike tours. The highlight being The Masts, a 1000ft climb. The record is 16 minutes. Good luck with that!

The food is definitely better than I remember it. Loads of choice at all three meal times. OK, not all of it was fantastic but there was always something that was tasty, never a wait for anything, and the view of the sunset at dinner is second to none.
No bad thing eating a lot of fruit and Greek salad anyway. Try it!

Overall decent value for a family of four and recommended. Thanks George and team for all your hard work.

Super holiday. Good value for money if you have some sort of discount. 12 years old very happy in the Kidz club. Good watersports as ever. Super mountain biking. Immaculately clean. good re-furbished rooms, very good local staff who could not be more friendly. Our kids are in their teens but facilities for the smallest ones looked excellent.

One week was enough

We have just returned back home after a week at this wonderful MW resort. Having just read the recent reviews to be honest there is nothing more to add as it seems everyone has had the same experience as us! We travelled with our 3 and 5 year old children and it was the first time that we had gone on an "all inclusive" holiday as we usually do independent travelling. We were not disappointed and to be honest with the fantastic variety of activities and the childcare it was the most relaxing holiday we've had so far.
Our children loved the mini club and Dee and Jasmine were fantastic with our children. To see our wee ones sailing and standing on a windsurfer as well as making friends made our holiday. Already they are asking when we will be returning. Next summer of course:)
One note is we were in room 109 which was good but the exercise classes are now going to be held on top of the childcare building directly in front of the room. This would annoy me as the classes do start quite early so i would imagine you may hear some noise. Also we could hear the live band from the bar one night when in bed. Will be requesting a room further up the hill for next year.
