Stayed here for ten nights in early September. This is a small family run hotel. Afroditi, Peter and their son George make you very welcome. We were allocated a larger room than we expected on the ground floor towards the back of the hotel, overlooking the well maintained gardens, very quiet and the topiary is quite something. The rooms were well maintained with the staff coming in every day to make the bed and generally clean and tidy up. The bed was large and comfortable, the shower o.k. however the Wifi did not work in the room, you had to go to the reception area to be connected. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of food and drinks available. On Mondays there tends to be a Greek night which is an optional extra, we attended one, which was o.k.The hotel is rather isolated with Marina a 40 minute walk away or a 7 Euro taxi ride away. We tended to walk up the hill to Plati a 15 minute walk most evenings to eat at Osozos Taverna at the far end of the square, which has the advantage of having a better stocked supermarket at the side of it than the one near the hotel. During the day we tended to go down to Plati beach. The beach is a short level walk away along a concrete road and through Niriides Beach Bar where we used their sun loungers and beach umbrellas, these are free if you spend 5 euros on drinks. The young man that takes your order from the beach and brings the drinks to you was very pleasant. At one end of the beach is a Mark Warner resort where you can hire equipment. The best time to do this is between 1pm and 2 pm when most of the Warner guests are having lunch, there is always a safety boat on hand in the bay. We hired a pico sailing boat, paddle boards and a two man kiak on different days while we were there and had a hours worth of fun per couple for about 30 euros each time.

This was our third stay at the Villa Afroditi and it just better and better. Nearly half the people we meet here are on a repeat visit - which tells you how good this place is. Please see my other reviews for more details. Many thanks to Peter, Afroditi and George for all your kindness. You know what I mean. We had the best Greek Evening ever and it was not spoilt by me trying to dance. This place is the place to go for relaxing. It has the only pool where you can swim with swallows as they dart and dive around you. Of course we are making arrangements for a return visit.

Villa Afrodite is every bit as good as the reviews say it is. The family and staff were all very friendly. Breakfast consisted of fresh and tinned fruit, bacon, eggs etc and a good variety of sweet and savoury delights. The food served in the evening was good and the Moussaka, the best ever.

The pool was a good size for a small hotel, big enough to swim lengths. If you want to chill, spend time sitting in the beautiful garden or by the pool. Guests didn’t reserve sunbeds all day, so always a choice of where to sit on our return in the afternoons. Most days we went out exploring the island in the car as the roads on Lemnos are very good, but extremely narrow in the villages. Sometimes we took the 5 min flat walk from the hotel down to Plati beach, which was probably the best beach on Lemnos.

We loved the island with its many sandy beaches and shallow water, although quite cold, if you venture deep enough to swim. This apparently is due to currents from the Marmara Sea. The mountains and hills provide a dramatic landscape. Lemnos has not been overdeveloped through tourism and it was a little like stepping back in time. The capital, Myrina, is beautiful. The main shopping street has a good variety of shops and towards the top of the street is a turning which brings you to a row of tavernas overlooking the sea on the other side of the castle.

Plati itself is very quiet with only a couple of tavernas and a very small supermarket which has a good stock of essentials. Plati Beach hotel also serves food in the evening as well as during the day. Plati village is a short but very steep walk up the hill from the hotel. Well worth a visit with a lovely square, church, a taverna and an ouzerie. The village itself is very small.

The only disappointment was the lack of variety on the taverna menus in Plati. They were very limited, but great if you like burgers or souvlaki with an incredible amount of chips. After a few days most people ended up sharing a starter and a main course between two as the portions were so large. Chips came with almost everything and we missed the great variety of aubergine dishes, lemon potatoes and other tasty vegetarian dishes served in the majority of tavernas in other Greek resorts. Evening meals at the hotel were more varied with manageable sizes, but few people ate there due to the cost of wine. Even wine from a box was far more expensive than in the local tavernas.

Overall, it was a very quiet, relaxing holiday in a lovely environment. I would highly recommend Lemnos, Plati and Villa Afrodite for those seeking a quiet, relaxing holiday.

Room tip: We had a room on the first floor and could see the sea and gardens. Ground floor rooms would just have a view of the beautiful gardens

Absolutely super small hotel run by a wonderful family.
Facilities are good with amazing service. Nothing is too much trouble for George, Peter and Aphrodite.
Can't recommend highly enough.
2 minutes walk to the super beach front and a 7 minute car ride into Myrina for a restaurants and sightseeing.
Highly recommended.

We have just arrived back after a fantastic 14 night stay at the Afroditi Villa Hotel booked through Sunvil Holidays it was the perfect choice for a relaxing holiday on a lovely Island. The owners Peter, Afroditi and their son George were the perfect hosts and could not have done more to make our stay so memorable. The Hotel was immaculate with first class rooms and kept spotlessly clean by the staff, aircon was free as was the room safe. Breakfast had a wide enough choice to satisfy everyone's needs with fruit, cheeses, yoghurt, cold meats, omelettes etc. The pool and bar area had comfortable outdoor seating areas and the meals served were of a high standard. Just a 5 minute walk to the beach never over busy with plenty of sunbed free of charge if you bought drinks from the beach bars and Tavernas our favourite was Gregories. Evenings around the hotel bar were always pleasant and a special mention to the lovely Eleni who worked extremely hard keeping customers happy. Also to Annette our lovely Sunvil rep who was all you'd want with all the info you may need for a perfect holiday, thank you.

I would highly recommend The Afroditi Villa Hotel to anybody visiting Lemnos we could not have chosen better.
