We travel monthly to Thessaloniki on business and in December we chose Colors Central for our stay.
The aesthetics of the hotel is really interesting and it is decorated in a modern and creative way. The whole concept is really fresh and colorful. It is also situated in one of the most beautiful areas of downtown Thessaloniki.

Just a few things:
1) The room was really really cold. The heater was on properly, but I believe that because the window frames are old (beautiful, but old) there was no proper insulation. Plus, when we got there, there was a problem with the heater (for which the polite staff apologized profoundly), but the truth is that throughout our stay, even when the problem was fixed WE.WERE.COLD. We were taking hot showers to manage to stay warm.
2) The second problem (which again I attribute to the old frames) is the noise. The hotel is situated in a beautiful and very lively neighborhood, full of bars and restaurants, but in the night we could hear all the music, the fuss and the noise from the people having a good time. So since we were there for business, this was really annoying. And through the bathroom window were coming smells from the kitchens of the restaurants nearby.
Basically, if the hotel decides to invest on new window frames (to keep the cold, the noises and the smells out), I believe that it will be a beautiful choice for your stay.
But cold and noise are deal breakers for us.

Other than that, the staff was polite and friendly. We also chose to have breakfast, which is not served at the hotel (it is more of a building with rooms, not your average hotel), but at a tapas restaurant nearby. Again the staff there was polite and accommodating and there is a small variety to choose from (3 plates out of a small menu).

The room was nicely decorated in a creative way. It also has really high ceilings, which is a favorite of mine.

Dear guest,

Greetings from Thessaloniki and a Happy New Year! Thank you for your choosing COLORS and thank you for your helpful input.

I hope your stay with us was a good one and we would like to apologize again for the problem with the central heating that lasted for 12 hours. If you would like to visit us again, you can still use the sales offer that was made for your next visit, that was made to all guests staying in COLORS Central this unfortunate time. On your next visit you will be able to experience all of the insulation provided by the new frames placed at the end of this month. As the property is a listed one, tall ceilings and beautiful frames do come with some shortcomings, that will not be a problem from February 2014 onwards. Newer, advanced insulation will keep any noise and outside triggers out and all the COLORS coziness in.

Looking forward to hearing again from you!

Yours sincerely,

Christina Drakopoulou

We stayed at Colors for two nights in the Sunny Corner Room with Sea View and we loved it!
This place is ideal for young, creative, positive people. There is a unique detail in every corner of the hotel. The hosts were sooo kind, they provided us with all the information we needed - parking, cool places to have a drink of eat. The room is amazing! Very clean and well-furnished with contemporary pieces. The area is great, so close to Tsimiski street (the shopping street in Thess), almost by the sea. I've been many times in Thessaloniki, but this very stay at Colors left me with totally different view of this town. That's why we are coming back this weekend, but this time we are bringing our lovely friends with us. Hope they'll fell in love with Colors the way we did. :D

We stayed at Colors in Thessaloniki for one night between Christmas and NYE 2013. We are huge fans of the city despite its incredibly awful traffic issues. The hotel is very well located on a side street in the heart of the city. We stayed in a room on the third floor and we had a small balcony which we didn't use (too chilly out). Since we were so high up we really did not hear the noise that other visitors have complained of, but again, we did not go during high tourist season in the summer, so the streets below were pretty quiet. The room itself was Spartan with just enough decoration in a minimalist style which we like. The hotel is obviously a renovation of an older building and in order to get to the elevator, there is a staircase that needs to be climbed (luggage has an elevator near the diminutive front desk). If you have any issues walking upstairs due to impairment of your knees, legs, etc you should consider this before getting a room here. The person (the front desk has room for one person) at the front desk was invariably super friendly and helpful. I'm not sure if we will return when we are in the city as the thin walls could prove to be a nightmare if you had noisy neighbors, which, fortunately for us, we did not have this time.

Dear guest,

Good morning and a Happy New Year from COLORS Central! We thank you for your input and we are glad you enjoy Thessaloniki as much as we do, as it is a vibrant, cozy and beautiful city for one to visit!

The building housing COLORS Central is a listed, historic building in the beautiful, preserved area of Ladadika and installing an elevator for persons from the reception desk is a bureaucratic issue. There is one elevator for your luggages at the reception desk and the staff can bring your luggages to your room directly. The persons elevator can be found one flight of stairs up the to take you to your room. Our aim is to provide the best services available and at the moment this is the best arrangement possible.

Regarding the other comments about the thin walls and the noise from outside, I should think it was not a problem for you, as you mention that you did not experience them yourselves. Regarding the outside noises, the installation of new frames will minimize all the outside problem. The brick and stone historic walls on the interior, have not produced any problem for our guests as they are much thicker than the average walls in newly-built buildings. During your stay you did not experience any noise from other guests and this is the feedback we get from all our other guests as well.

I hope our friendly concierge service, the beautiful decoration, the central location in a reasonable price made up for what you have or have not experienced.

Looking forward to welcoming you in our beautiful, historic city!

Yours sincerely,

Christina Drakopoulou

Have stayed there many times before. Will stay again. Good prices, good rooms, good service, good location. They also have a garage nearby with good rates if you are a patron of colors.
The only negative is sometimes there is a bit of noise at night time from some bars nearby.

Great location for a gourmet escapade in Thessaloniki, right next to all the hip restaus and bars. Located next to this super cute bohemian square of Ladadika. Pop boutique concept with a hint of "cheese" (what pop would be without the remotely controled led lights system). Super friendly front desk, but not really great house keeping. Overall loved it and definetelly going back! P.S: they should really consider double glass windows, being next to the busiest spot in town

Dear guest,

I hope that the trip home has been safe and thank you for your careful review.

We are glad you were fond of our design and the beautifully hip area of Ladadika, even if the mood lamp system does not apply to everybody's taste.

We are planning for an second row of windows, as the double-glazed windows can sometimes not be enough, an addition that should be finished by the end of 2013.

We hope that our friendly staff, our location and our inside tips in Thessaloniki's life has made your stay unforgettable and we will be accommodating you in the future.

Yours sincerely,
