A really excellent museum - interesting, beautiful exhibits and well presented. Also, short video clips (5 minutes each) to explain the founding of the Macedonian empire and the founding of the city of Thessaloniki. Highly recommended.

It’s easy to get there by your own car, or by public transportation – the route of main bus lines reach the place (I used 78 which make the connection between Central Rail Station and the International Airport). Students have a special policy for admission. The museum is very well organized and accessible for all. The exhibits cover, mainly, the ancient period of this part of Greece. Don’t miss the treasury – gold and silver artifacts collection. The gift shop is almost inexistent, but the museum’s café is an attraction by itself.

The museum is very well designed, one really learns a lot about the history of the region. The souvenir shop can be improved, but other than that worth a visit.

Also, if you're planning to visit Byzantine Culture Museum, too (which is next to this one), there is a reduced price for two tickets, which is good.
