Owner description: The Museum of Photography is the only state-run museum in Greece under the supervision of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Tourism dedicated exclusively to photography. Its mission on local, national and international level is realised: By planning and executing exhibition series, by creating archives and collections, by publishing books, catalogues and informational material and by organizing educational programs, by organizing the PhotoBiennale, the evolution of the international photography meeting Photosynkyria and by enriching the platform for dialogue through portfolio reviews, the establishment of prizes and the organization of meetings, by developing parallel activities to form a core of cultural movement in cooperation with other, by creating a meeting place, where art converses with everyday life and the pictures are accompanied by words in the series “Words and Images”.

Well, the museum has nothing really interesting, expect some collections time to time that are really great-as other people notice before they don't have a permanent collection so it depends on what exhibition you encounter but the place is beautiful and very artistic, calm that makes you feel really nice and is located in a beautiful place. The reason I decide to leave a review is becuase the coffee shop that is inside and is a place you should visit it! Calm, quite with the best view of the port and always nice people around. You will definitely enjoy your time there! Everytime I am in Thessaloniki I visit this place!

Large Modern space that exhibits all kinds of photography from other countries as well as Greece. Close to city centre and from what i can recall a small fee is paid..

After winding an hour through traffic to get down to waterfront for lunch, I caught of glimpse of the museum before we had a great meal. When we started down to the center of town to walk around and take a look, I just had to check out the Museum of Photography.

I'm glad I did! Featured was Time in Turkey, a show of some of the world's top photographers including colleagues from the U.S. What a nice show and well done!

Usually with a group show, it's a hodge-podge of images, some good, some not so good. This show was all first-class and showed nice groupings of photos from each photographer and nicely lit and displayed!

I've been to many photo museums in the U.S., especially on the west coast and the Museum of Photography is every bit as nice as the rest. Thessaloniki should be proud of their world-class museum!

Next to the Cinema museum, in the same warehouse. The museum is located on the first floor and includes interesting photography exhibitions by international and local artists. There are periodic exhibitions ranging from classic to modern mostly photography art. It includes a small bookshop and a cafe with a seaview.

The museum hosts nice exhibitions, but the reason that you should visit it is for the coffee shop, which lies within the museum and offers an excellent view of the port, the music is always light, and the place is ideal for reading a book. Prices are OK, and people very friendly.
