I had seen an advertisement and had read so much about it, so I decided to go there and form my own opinion. The positive reviews proved to be right.
There is a fixed menu which costs 10 euros. Everything I tasted was delicious. The prices are affordable for what this bar - restaurant offers. Coq Au Zen has got a special decoration and a warm environment. This place makes you feel like you were in another country. The service is friendly, too. The only disadvantage is that the chairs aren't comfortable at all.
It's a good choice if you want to try something different. I absolutely recommend it for couples, but not for a big company of friends because the tables are a bit small.

The kitchen closes at 8 (after that you can get appetizers); the first time we came we didn't know that but enjoyed the spinach cheese crepe and a cheese and meat plate (and the house wine is really nice); when we went back one of us ordered a vegetable salad and the other one of the (very limited) entrees--which was not available; so we both had salads; both were good; small place good atmosphere in the "I like to eat in an alley" sort of way;

Went there during New Year's Eve. Even though the location is not right in the middle of the city centre you can still get there with a 5-6 minute walk. The staff is polite and discrete and the setting is just beautiful - sheltered in the gallery of an old building. I loved the music being played that day (started with French 60s, then transcending to lovely takes of Jazz standards - Cole Porter etc-not the boring ones :) ).

Overall, a wonderful place with a wonderful atmosphere.

Meet Irene and George the owners of Coq au Zen and let them "transfer" you at the Coq au Zen state of mind.
An international venue right in the heart of Valaoritou street, one of the beasiest bar spots in town. A not to lose place.
