“Great location, bad facilities”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Egremni Beach is one of the best beaches in Lefkada. However, you should know that there are no bathrooms there. Not even at the top of the 350 steps you will not find one. When you ask the guys that work there, they will send you in the next village and that is actually not an option after you struggle to find a parking place and you are not in the mood to walk in the sun.
Also, if you have a low car, you might not be able to get as near to the beach as others, because of the road.
The beach has small pebbles and they are not as rough as the ones from Porto Katsiki and the heat is not as suffocating as the one from Porto Katsiki.
Bottom line, the beach is worth the walk, the 350 steps and the fact that it does not have a bathroom anywhere.

If you can manage 378 stairs then it 's all the money!!! One of the must see beaches of the island!!!! However, it is for the skilled drivers and there are no WC at all.

“One of the best beaches...”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

...or maybe the best on the island. The only downside is that it's not easy to get here. There are some cruises that can drop you here, directly from the sea, but if you want to reach the site by land then it gets tricky. There are a lot of steps to go down (350) so make sure you get everything that you need from your car - you won't like it to go up and down unnecessary. Second... parking could be a problem - the road is quite narrow and there are some steep parts.
...but despite this, it's totally worth coming here at least one time - it's not too crowdy and it's very wide, the water is incredible.

“Stunning from above but not much to recommend here if you want to chill out”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Egremni beach has been rated as one of the top ten beaches in Greece and on initial approach its easy to see why. The view from the top of the cliff approaching the beach is breaktaking. The sea is a startling cerulean blue and the beach looks an inviting mile or so long sandy strip. to reach this stunning looking beach there is a trade off in the form of a descent of around 350 steps with the last section particularly steep and potentially hazardous if you have children or less able or even fit people in your group. On arriving on the beach for a good 750 yards in each direction is two parallel strips of sunbeds and parasols for those wishing to bask in the rays or lie in the shade. Unfortunately any ambience the beach has is ruined by dreadful reggae music thats blared out of a sound system. Now this is acceptable on beaches where you expect this, like 18-30 hols but lefkada has a reputation for being quiet and unspoilt and this totally ruins the beach for me. Yes it is possible to walk a good half hour in both directions and still be on the beach away from the music but when temperatures are averaging around 35 degrees in peak season you dont want to be out in the blazing sun lugging stuff up and down the beach. The beach itself is rather disappointing up close, its not really possible to walk barefoot on the beach due to the large pebbles which sink as you walk on them so if you do decide on a sunbed youll end up putting on your footwear and leaving it at the waters edge. The sea here again is a stunning colour although ive visited the beach numerous times the water has never been as clear as say the beach at Porto Katsiki or the beach to the North, Kalamitsi. Egremni can also be hit and miss due to the roughness of the sea. On some visits the sea has almost been out of bounds due to its roughness, which if you have made your way down the cliff to reach can be quite galling, especially knowing you have to get back up to the top without a refreshing dip. On the days it is calm though its a lovely shelved beach that does get quite deep quite quickly so keep an eye on any children in your group or people that perhaps arent very good swimmers as ive found the current here does tend to pull you away from the shore deceptively quick at times. It is a lovely beach but in all honesty id say take in the view from the top of the steps in the cafe on the clifftop, take a few pictures and move on to the superior beaches of Porto Katsiki and Kalamitsi if you want to experience the west side of the island. A major redeemer for Egremeni is the sunset, its absolutely stunning from the clifftop cafe and well worth a visit in the evening to watch.
