Arrived here 17 july for 2 weeks. Having been to sidari numerous times- we knew where the apartments were and that every one overlooked the sea- in the canal d'amour area- which we prefer rather than the main strip.
On arrival and entering the room- we thought the previous holiday makers had been cooking sardines before leaving for the airport! I kid you not- the place stunk of fish! we were knact after sitting on the coach for an hour and a half while the bus driver chatted to his buddies-so decided to leave til the morning- and hoped the air con(40 euros per week) would rid the smell- so had an hours kip- then out for a beer or two. When we got back no electric- air con etc-went to reception told socrates- he was good about it- offered us another room for night- and next day got the electrician in - who replaced the whole circuit board the next afternoon! apparantly the "fish" smell was the dodgy electrics!
kitchen facilties kettle, toaster , (which did not work- again socrates replaced after a couple days), 2 oven rings. There was a hairdryer- but never used as i brought my own
The shower the smallest ever, curtain only came down 3/4 down, the shower tray small- sorry for the lack of political correctness but if you are over about 9/10 stone you will struggle, Get a shower early - by 7 in evening water was cold.
Beds the hardest in corfu- and that is why im knocking it down to 4 (instead of 5)- my god i ached after getting out of that damn bed- i had to get the 2 thick blankets out of the wardrobe and put over the top of the mattress- in the hope of some comfort. Reading through the reviews, i noted one holiday maker said they were the most comfortable beds they had ever slept in! If that was a genuine comment (and not a sarcastic one)- all i can say is that room must have had a brand new bed delivered during your stay!!!
Pool area great- although other people from different apartments use socrates pool/sunbeds,so unless your up early, you may struggle for a sunbed, in my opinion it is one of the better pools and the views are spectacular overlooking the sea.
cleaners very pleasant- (but the room is literally swept and rubbish taken away daily- sheets changed twice a week and towels 3 times) the girls who worked in the restaurant were lovely- and the guests were great too!
We will be returning to sidari- we love it here- its cheap drinking and eating- we know the nicest restaurants (which i will be reviewing over the next week).
Would i return to socrates? Only if socrates messages me to tell me he has invested in new mattresses- or even mattress toppers!!!
