“We Loved It & Will Hopefully Be Back Later in the Year”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2011

We hired a car from Olympic Holidays and with the deal we got one night free accommodation anywhere on Corfu. We decided to travel down to Kavos for the night and chose to stop in the Yianetta Complex.

I was a little sceptical on what the accommodation would be like, as I had heard the horror stories of what rooms in Kavos were like when my Husband stopped there last year.

We were guided up to our apartment which was in the furthest block back. When I walked into the room I was quite pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and spacious – it was even better than the one we had been staying at in our resort. I was well impressed.

As it was the end of June – beginning of July when we were there, there were a few groups of young people but it wasn’t lairy at all. This I presume this changes in the summer break though.

The following morning we sat round the pool for the morning to recover from the night before. The area was very clean and well presented. The bar staff were very friendly.

We also had our breakfast here which was very nice - my Husband was impressed as they had ‘proper baked beans’ lol.

The hotel is around ½ hour walk from the outskirts of Kavos, it was a long walk in the heat, but it was nice to be away from the crowds to go to bed.

They also have free wifi which was a real bonus!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Yianetta and are hoping to get a last minute deal here in September. Out of the summer break season I would definitely recommend the Yianetta :)

Good value. Very nice genuine owners. Not ideal for party people. Pool and rooms reasonable standard for Greek islands in general but very good in terms of run down island like Corfu. the euro and greek economy has made Greece expensive but it is still possible to have a cost effective holiday. St Peters is a bit of a ghost town but if you want a resort on your doorstep go nearer to Kavos or Sidari. We quite prefered a bit of tranquility. Kavos is a gas albeit a shame it's a bit dirty and trashy where the businesses want your euros but are happy to sell poor quality fare in neglected establishments - businesses would be shut down if they operated like that in the UK. But the majority of their customers have simple needs so they can not complain as they made it like this! Even the Greeks can't polish a turd. But it's still ok to visit in the evening even with children 10 & 11 years old - they thought it was awsome and more impressed than Laganas.
Socrates is a rip-off. The local scooter hire place all the bikes and quads are knackered. Lefkimi is lovely. The sea is warm and shallow. Not as many Albanians as reported but there aremany thieves in Kavos praying on drunk youngsters and the shops put the prices of water up astronomically late at night again to take advantage of drunk youngsters - and don't fall for the luminous wrist band scam. The St Peters local shops are ok the second on the right hand side people are more genuine. Moskquito's rife like most hot places but there is a snooty all inclusive complex down the road which pumps raw sewerage into an open dyke which doesn't help.

Room Tip: D'ont expect a ferrari if you pay for a lada.

Arrived 4.30am Tues 24th, first nights sleep aweful, with cleaners arriving on mopeds, and parking directly under our apartments, and then group of loud females back from a nite out, shouting at 7am, but it got better. I complained to AJ, they didnt run the mopeds again and at the meeting, he did make it clear about previous nites noise, so thanks to him for that. I too suffered badly with bites, some 20 on my left foot still weeping now.
We were in one of the better apartments at back of the pool with balcony, basic but clean for 2*, not that Ive been on 2* before but didnt book until 18th so no great complaints, and didnt get chance to read previous reviews on here either, if I had may not have come, but there was very little else left for this week, did have to ask sheets & towels to be changed after 4 nights, but were done within 10minutes! Pool was fine, didnt eat there, but breakfasts looked ok, it is 2* remember!
Like others location was an issue, there is nothing in St Peters, very run down and deserted, and it does take 40mins to the better eating places. Olympic Holidays should redescribe the local area as it was misleading!! We used Aquis pool and sunloungers, and managed to change there on the last day, 10euro pp just till 7pm was ridiculous.
Ive been to the outskirts of Falaraki & laganas, but Kavos is worse, very few really greek tavernas, however went to Lefkimi twice, much better beach and restaurants were a joy alongside the canal, & that only cost 8e by taxi. Those of you who missed it will wish you hadnt, as Kavos didnt offer a lot

I have yesterday returned from the Yianetta with 3 mates and Im going to give you the good points:-

1) Company was fab
2) Weather was fab

Bad points:-
1) Mosquitoes - hundreds of them, got 11 bites on my face !
2) Pool - had a think layer of scum around it
3) Flies and wasps, omg you would have thought the worlds population of flies and wasps lived in corfu.
4) Pool bar menu - please DONT go half board here, all you get to eat is off the pool bar menu and they wont differ from the meals !!!
5) Im sorry to say but the rooms are dire and you would think that it was a hostel not a hotel.

Kavos town is a 20 min walk away, 30 mins if you take your time, the beach is lovely. It is so expensive there thou, the clubs/bars are good but the town itself is very dirty and smelly, please go if you just want a cheapo drinking hol with your mates, please please dont take your kidz there, there is nowt for them to do.

The rep aj aint the greatest, it is his first season, I sort of gave him a hard time !!

Arrived 0730hrs Sat morning. Room for three (myself, wife and young son) turned out to be two totally seperate & unconnected 2 bedroom apartments! Competely inappropriate.
Room very basic (but hotel is 2*) but badly maintained - 3 out of 5 lights didn't work for example. Needed decorating badly. Cooking facilities consist of double 'camper' style stove, one frying pan, one pot and a kettle!
HOWEVER.....most distressing of all was this was sold to us as a quiet family complex that had a few 'young & lively' (as they call them) guests. We missed 2 full nights of sleep due to drunk British teenagers fighting, breaking windows etc. A complete nightmare! Asked to be moved but, guess what, no other rooms available (in the whole of Corfu apparently).
Pool was full of boys and girls acting like an 18-30 holiday park with language and behaviour just not suitable for anyone let alone young children.
PLEASE PLEASE do not stay here if you have children - you will regret it from the moment you arrive!
Incidently, evicted from room at noon when flight at 0300hrs - 15 hours by the pool! Apparently the 0730 arrival counted as one of our nights stay! So cheeky!
So, you've been warned.

When we arrived we were excited to be in Greece. When we got to the rooms we were disappointed. Basically i'm used to the simlplicity of Greek accommodation but these were something else. The rooms were dark and dingy, the bath tub had a big slob of filler on it that had turned black. It felt unclean, the kitchen facilities were extremely outdated. The exterior however was pleasant. If you are looking for cheap and cheerful holiday in a good locaton, with accommodation just for a crash pad after hard partying then this is your place.

When we were told wot apartments we were in we had our own opinions. When we arrived at 6:30 in the morning we were greeted by a bunch of ravers from the nite before. the complex was smart and well presented with a friendly family runnin it. if we had a problem they would try their best to sort it out. the pool area was alway clean and you could leave your belongings there and be safe in the knownin that they will be there when you returned. a television are was on hand for the music and sport. with a lively varity of colours painted around you could miss home for long. It was a new home for a week. meeting loads of new friends along the way. I myself would def go back and for 2 wks instead of one. It is a place for the young ones and you can rest by the pool for the next nite out. with a super market 5 mins down the road for the little things that you need on hol.
