Sorry, Konstantinoupolis, I love evocative old hotels, but you have got beyond evocative. The floors creek, the bathrooms are jerry-built afterthoughts, the decor is faded, the beds hard and lumpy, the entrance has all the charm of a government refuse disposal site. Think of Fawlty Towers combined with Steptoe and Son.
On the plus side, the old harbor to the north side of town is a nice quiet location, with great views. There are some nearby restaurants, but the walk into town is short and nice. So the location is fine.
But, and it is a big but. Sorry, Konstantinoupolis, but I cannot recommend any hotel that does not have a fire escape - especially one this tall. Yes, we have all heard of grandfather rights, but this has been going on for too long. Put in a fire escape, or close down.
There is a new hotel just one block to the east, which is very new and nice - a very ancient Greek decor. But prices will be 50% more than the Konstantinoupolis, so you pay your money and take your choice.
