Eating at Taverna Roumeli is a must for anybody visiting Nissaki, or the surrounding area of the North West of Corfu. In fact, I would say it is worth going out of your way of you're going anywhere on Corfu. I had read about this fantastic Taverna on Trip Advisor, and even though it was about a 20 minute uphill walk from our hotel it was definitely worth it. We went on a Wednesday on which the spit-roasted suckling pig is offered as a special alongside the full menu. As a carnivore, I was always going to have the suckling pig and boy was it tasty. As we'd had a big lunch before our fist visit we didn't have starters, but we did on our return. On our second visit I had the local sausages to start, which were a pork and beef sausages with a special spice mix. I followed this by a T-Bone steak with the nicest (and firiest!) pepper sauce I have ever had. With Anna being a fantastic hostess, coupled with fantastic rustic local specialities, this makes a recipe for success. I am sad we didn't find this Taverna sooner, but thanks to Trip Advisor we did, and we will definitely go back when we're in Corfu next time. Well done Anna and Vangelis.
