This was our first time holidaying in Corfu. My wife and I stayed at the Belvedere last summer and had a great holiday. Ok yes the rooms are basic and sometimes you don't see the cleaner for days, but we would often ask, or tidy up ourselves and get clean sheets and towels from the linen cupboard. I don't have a problem cleaning up after myself.
The views from the upper appartments and the pool/restaurant area are amazing. It is family run, with Nikos and his wife Natasha making you feel very welcome at the pool bar and his brother Aris in the restaurant.
Nikos is very outgoing and likes a party and wants everyone to have a good time, but it's not boom boom, which is great.
We hired a car for 5 days to get around the Island, and visited some lovely places of interest and the capital, Corfu Town. But we didn't find anywhere to compare with Paleokastritsa, we both just felt it was the nicest place in Corfu and we would have no hesitation returning, even to stay at the Belvedere. Because it may be basic, but has an abundance of hospitality from the family.

I stayed at the Belvedere Apartments in September 2012. On arrival I was directed to the annexe apartments which were down below the pool area. After passing dirty old@ mattresses, broken chairs, mops and buckets I found room 5. As I opened the door, the smell of urine wafted over you. The fridge was rusty and dirty and water was pooled over the kitchen floor. The toilet did not have a seat and there were no bulbs in the bathroom cabinet, this was the only source of light! The utensils in the kitchen comprised of 2 forks, 1 knife, 1 teaspoon, 2 mugs and 1 plate. I immediately complained to Nikos but his reply was "Relax, this is Greece, enjoy your holidays and the sun" The cleaner came into the apartments when she felt like it and flicked a dirty mop around the place. I had to ask on several occasions to empty the bin in the bathroom. The balcony is very narrow and is shared by the other apartments. The view is exceptional overlooking the sea but we had to sit out here as the smell in the apartments were so bad. I would not recommend these apartments and I think Olympic need to review using them in future. Paleokastritsa is very pretty, with lots of lovely restaurants.

Room Tip: The best view was from Room 7 in the annexe, which is larger and has 3 beds

Just spent 2 weeks from 1st Oct at the Belvedere apartments in paleo, the rooms were basic which we knew would be from the star rating so do not go looking for hotel style luxury, yes the cleaning was very basic, done two or three times a week, but we just got on and done some ourselves ,well its our mess and it is self cater !! Yes there are lots of steep stairs to climb each day too the beaches, bars/restrnts or to the sprmkts but you get used to them, if you do have any issues with a little fitness then i would not recommended staying here they are not for you.We did meet some great new friends to share our experience and could not stop laughing and dancing.Nikos and Natassa are two of the nicest people we could have met and made us feel part of their family, they just want you to relax, enjoy yourself and have fun,if you have a problem with anything just speak to them and they will sort it,they really want you to have a great time, you will also have to join in the odd hat wearing of Nikos's games etc at the bar.The restaurant and bar both have great food and superb greek nights twice a week. The pool is small but ample for what we needed, the pool area has the most fanastic views over looking the bay as do some of the rooms, you can just sit back and admire the fantastic views. The beach is small and was not over crowded but thats the time of year i guess, but if you want a lovely sandy beach its just 10 mins walk down the road.We are both definately going to return hopefully in the near future and re visit our new family.

Room Tip: the steps are the issue here, you could ask for rooms 9,10 ,11 12, which only have a few about 16,all...

Stayed here for 11 nights in Sept.
Nikos and Natassa who actually run the pool bar are the nicest most helpful ppl you could wish to meet.
The poolside has a magnificent view over the bay.
Couldn't fault the service there.
Now we move onto the apts...
They were small, basic, not very clean and we had to actually change our own sheets, due to nobody changing them for a full week!
We raided the linen cupboard next to our apt and got ourselves new sheets and towels.
Nobody came in to clean the rooms for at least 4-5 days.
There is a woman who lives upstairs in the apts who cleans all of the rooms singlehandedly. Maybe she was feeling under the weather, who knows.
The appts are down a very steep flight of stone stairs and they are no good if you are easily out of breath or disabled.
I loved the poolside bar, but felt the apartments let Nikos and Natassa down.
They need to have a proper cleaning plans nd spend a little bit money on the apartments on broken toilet seats etc..

We returned from a very relaxing and lovely week at the Belvedere - top marks for the chill factor! Accommodation and facilities very basic but owners of the apartments and neighbouring restaurant cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and almost part of the family. Be warned of the steep steps down to the apartments but we felt the trek down was worth it for the amazing view from our balcony - waking up to it each morning was wonderful, and suggest in high summer hiring a fan, the heat can be uncomfortable at night, take mosquito repellent and close your door and windows at dusk to avoid getting bitten (we had no problems all holiday till we sat in the airport departure lounge for our return flights and got badly bitten)!! Five minutes down the road you will find the main beach and oodles of restaurants - we loved the Zefyros bistro on the way to the main promenade, or take advantage of the views around the pool area of the apartments -ask the owner Nikos for the ouzo meze lunch with an ice cold Mythos - lovely! . Within walking distance beyond the resort itself is the Monastry, worth the trek up and there is a bus stop outside the accom running a regular service into Corfu town, we did the full day trip to Paxos and the mainland , tiring so might be worthwhile to do seperately. Paleo has to be the best resort on the island, I have lived and worked in Greece and returned many times to its beautiful islands for holidays. We always opt for small family run accommodation to make the most of greek hospitality, relaxing atmosphere, wonderful views and tranquil locations and can only echo the views of the "greenknight010 review. Would like to post our thanks to Nikos, Natasha and their lovely family for looking after us..."yamas" - hope he is wearing and likes his cricket hat!

We have just come back from a 7 day stay at the belvedere apartments.the apartment was still being cleaned when we arrived and I would say cleaned but that would be classed as a compliment. The rooms were so basic we felt as if we had gone back in time, the out side area did not look as if it had any attention for weeks, the tables and chairs were filthy. To top it all on one morning we had a dead rat outside our room courtesy of the numerous cats. On using the bathroom it was like walking into a death trap with no shower curtains making the floor like an ice rink, thanks Olympic holidays for the signs to notify us of the wet floor but maybe a shower curtain would be a bit of an improvement. The location and the beaches are excellent and we will return but NOT to the Belvedere. If the apartment belongs to the belvedere which is a restaurant and pool bar then maybe the owner needs to look after all his guests and not just those that frequent the bar nightly their is so much more to see in this beautiful resort, accommodation which is not only cheaper but far superior.

OH what a shame arriving on the 15th June with the best view over the bay and prime position between the two main beaches, we are use to basic greece, arrived to find the room clean, BUT THAT WAS IT, arrived back from the beach in Monday to find no sheets on the bed or towels, we reported this at the bar and was attended too by an irate greek woman, the room was never cleaned in the first week and the toilet bin only emptied every couple of days, by the following week i had to ask for clean sheets and towels and was handed these and asked to replace myself, the toilet bin was then emptied after 3 days, we had to ask for drinking glasses, not that I want to cook on holiday but very little self catering facilities, come on Belvedere this could be the best place in greece
