Its no wonder why its one of the most famous beaches in the world. Photos cannot give it justice, its stunning. The water is crystal clear and you could sit there for hours.

You have to see it to believe it !

No picture can capture the breathtaking beauty of this jewel at the bottom of a cliff !

To walk on the pure white sand & swim in the crystal clear water, the colour of an opal, is a bit surreal. Mother Nature has left Myrtos Beach as a gift to Cephalonia.

That first sight of Myrtos Beach as we descended down the
winding road all the way to the bottom will be forever etched in our memories. Too hard to describe, no photo can capture the breathtaking beauty of this rare & isolated jewel on the edge of the ocean.

Picture postcard beauty with intensly blue water and marble white pebble beach. Walking on the stones was a little commical as they seemed to be a near perfect size to cause maximum discomfort underfoot. That said it was lovely.

While I admittedly had the pleasure of this beach in march, completely alone, undisturbed and pristine, far from the maddening crowds with not a deckchair in sight, it is still the most visually perfect beach i have ever seen. To sit and swim in the water, dwarfed by its scale and majesty is one of my most enduring memories from the island.

I went to this beach in Mid-April. There is no address for this beach, so the hotel staff told me to set my GPS from where I was staying in Argostolion to Fiskardo, another town north of the island. I did just that & followed the signs to Fiskardo until I saw signs for Myrtos Beach. There were about 15 people at most on the beach. The beach was clean, though the bathrooms were locked & no place to get food or water, though there was a restaurant about a 7 minute drive away. The beach is all white rocks where the waves begin, then sand towards the back of the beach.

Superb beach and much improved access so it is surprisingly to learn that it is still by no means easy and eateries choice is poor. Visually it is stunning , please see the attached picture but well off the beaten track so make a day of it and take the suncream and a healthy dose of liberalism, as topless and occassional nude bathing are the norm so if you are going to offended don,t go.
Suggest you combine it with a trip to Fiscardo if you are going this far, but do not expect much when you get there. When we went we were surprised and annoyed by the large number of wasps everywhere in the north which astonishingly the brochures do not mention.
