“Good quality in lovely surroundings”
Reviewed July 19, 2007

We stayed here for a week in July. It was very hot weather - the rooms are not air conditioned but we hired a large fan from the bar for 1 Euro per day which was useful. The apartments are up a very steep hill, which makes it hot work during the day, but it only takes just over 5 mins to walk downhill onto the main road into Lassi, and if necessary, you can get a taxi to take you up it. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the beach in Lassi and you can get a taxi for 5 Euros into Argostoli along the coast.

The rooms were basic, along the lines of you you would expect in self catering apartments in Greece, however they seemed fairly new and in good condition compared to some places we've stayed in. The fridge was very new, so it didn't keep you awake in the night with any strange noises. The kitchen area was well equipped for breakfast purposes and included a new toaster and kettle.

The balcony area was very nice and large, with good quality furniture - better than the usual plastic tables and chairs you normally get.

The bathroom was also nice - it had a proper shower cubicle with plastic sliding doors, so that the water didn't get on the floor whilst showering. There wasn't any hot water on 1 evening, but the rest of the time there was ample.

There were nice views across to the Lixori peninsular, however these were slightly obscured by the trees. The rooms are located away from the pool and bar so it isn't too noisy in the evenings, however some noise travels up the hill from the bars in Lassi, but this is only if you have the doors open when you are sleeping.

The pool area is also very nice with a good sized pool. We had lunch at the pool bar once and also this was good value for money.

First Choice arranged various trips and we went on the Beach BBQ on the glass bottomed boat which was a good day out. The rep was often around and helpful.

In terms of value for money, we were pleased with our holiday and would recommend these apartments.

Stayed at the Panorama apartments in June 2007 for a week, booked via Eclipse Direct a (cheaper) subsidiary of First Choice. Paid a good price of around £200 each for one week self catering rather than brochure price of around £450 each.

We haven’t been to Greece for a number of years and you do forget how basic the accommodation is. The Panorama apartments consisted of one large room which incorporated the beds, small kitchen area (couple of cupboards, fridge, toaster, kettle and mini oven with hob) and small table and chairs, with a small bathroom (shower only) off the main room. The apartments could sleep four, but you need to keep in view everyone will be in one room.

The room was large and cleaned daily with linen / sheets changed twice a week. The apartment had a small patio area with table and chairs along with small clothes dryer.

The accommodation is set at the top of a hill, which some may consider steep, taking around 10 minutes to get down to the resort of Lassi, although slightly longer to get back up! The pool area was clean and well maintained and being on an elevated position offered stunning sea views – there is a small bar by the pool which offered a range of snacks (salads, burgers etc). There were some benches by the apartments that offered good views. The apartments are only two storey and surrounded by well maintained gardens stocked with colourful plants.

In the main resort of Lassi there is a number of restaurants and bars, most offering similar Greek cuisine. There is also a Chinese which was good. It is possible to walk to Agostoli from the apartments – around 30 minute walk and here there is a very good Indian restaurant (Kohenoor) if you fancy a change from Greek food.

Overall a good break in well situated apartments away from the main resort area.

We stayed at these apartments really only because they were local to a wedding we were going to, otherwise we would have splashed out a bit more money!
We paid £280 each for 1 week's self-catering, so it was quite a cheap and cheerful holiday.
The apartments are very basic, not terrible, but certainly without any frills. Our studio had three beds, kitchenette (in the same room!), a small dining area and a bathroom. Outside we had a patio with tables and chairs.
To be honest we were quite disapppointed to find everything in one big room, it does feel strange to be tucked up in bed staring at the fridge and the kitchen sink. In addition to that there was no 'living area' at all, and the room really could have done with a sofa and a lounge table, to bring in some home comforts.

Aside from this the apartments have a lovely bar and swimming pool area, with great sea views. In addition to this the First Choice rep offers you lots of excursions to go on, and there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about. We went on an Ithaka cruise for a day, which was very enjoyable, and allowed us to see something of the island, and to get to know Kefalonia. It is a beautiful place, and well worth going to.

The resort of Lassi is 10 minutes away from the apartments, HOWEVER the apartments are on a steep hill away from it hence the views!), and it did become quite gruelling treking up and down it. It isn't conveniently placed, and if you had children or weren't fit, it would be a real problem.

In summary, a great island, and if you're going very much on the cheap you would probably be happy with Panorama. However if you do want some home comforts, and don't want to sleep in the same room as your fridge, go somewhere else!

  • Liked — Location to wedding we were going to
  • Disliked — Very basic, at top of massive hill!
  • Tips/Secrets — Probably to avoid it, unless you want a cheap week in the sun
