when we booked this holiday the travel agent told us it was on a slight hill !!! dont listen to them it was up the top of a mountain ! the first day we got ther we decided to go for a walk to explore & halfway down i slipped over & hurt myself as the walk down is VERY slippy with lots of bends, not good at all for anyone disabled ! we had to get a taxi back up every time we went down to the beach & at 5 euros a time it works out a lot if you have a budget, the rooms were very nice & clean but the family ( greek americans ) were so unpleasent ! we spent 2 weeks there & would NEVER go back mainly because of the hill/mountain ! be warned do not go here if you have walking problems !

Room Tip: rooms were lovely with great views

We decided to stay at Liberatos Village for this year's vacation. We stayed there last year for five days and we liked the location (having a car, the hill was not a problem).
This year, things were totally different. The place looked abandoned. We were there for three days, before anyone appeared to clean the room, which was full of ants!!! When two ladies finally appeared to clean the appartment, and we informed them about the ants, they didn't seem to bother at all. They just sprayed them with something!!!!
They were also very cheap with the toilet paper, making us buy our own from the supermarket.
Also, some workers were determined to loan the grass at 5 o clock, in the afternoon. Just when you try to relax and get some sleep. This went on for at least three days. There is a lot of grass at Liberatos'.
Staying there this year was definitely not a good experience.

we booked a last minute week's accommodation through thomson which was something like 70 pounds for room only. At this price it was probably worth it as the room though basic was quite spacious and because of the location on a hill also quite cool. We had a car and we are not the people who like to sit by the pool all day so I can't comment on it.
Agree with other reviewers the hill is quite steep and a long walk so probably not very pleasant particularly when it's hot but as we had a car it was no problem for us. It is definitely worth hiring a car in kefalonia there are plenty of nice areas to visit and amazing beaches all over the island. We ended up avoiding lassi altogether as it is quite busy and touristy.
we had no problems with cleanliness when we turned up and from then on we cleaned the room ourselves as the cleaning lady only comes every 2-3 days.
Although our room was adequate spacewise and there was a pleasant view from the balcony it was quite close to the pool and bar area of a hotel next door so we got some noise from that especially in the evenings. When we complained and asked for another room we were given no help because all rooms were supposedly booked (although it was quite obvious to us that the complex was less than half full). I speak greek and so could speak with the owner who appeared to be hanging around the pool area most days. He was apparently unhappy that we hadn't booked the most expensive accomodation on the same site and though not rude he was generally quite unpleasant, not your friendly and hospitable greek by any means.
But we saw no reason in leaving as we always travel with earplugs so sleeping was no problem and we were generally out for the biggest part of the day.
so if you find this at a bargain price and plan to hire a car then I would give it a try, otherwise plenty of other more convenient or pleasant options nearby and in the rest of kefalonia.

recently returned from Liberatos appt,we were told before we went there was a slight hill to get to Liberatosl!!!!!!i live in wales and am used to hills but this was back breaking in the heat and NOT SLIGHT.liberatos Appt are very basic as expected, cleaning is not up to much.very basic in crockery&cutlery as a few of us found out they do not supply tin openers either. The on site shop is expensive.only entertainment is on a friday when they have a bbq, which we paid 5euro each but when we were leaviing new notice went up of price rise to 7euro each!!!more entertainment would have been good.
Pool area is good.i would not recommend these appartments to unfit or elderly.

Having looked at the reviews, thought i'd leave my thoughts...
Me and my wife first stayed there in 2002 and thought it was ok,clean but basic apartment, good pool and pool bar.Yes,the supermarket was expensive so shop in the town.We had a great holiday and hired a moped for the week so the ride up the steep hill was a blast, killer walking though.
We went again last year(2008) and stayed in the apartment block furthest away from the pool and it was clean with a great view.We found the poolside bar very expensive, must have been something to do with the pound versus the euro(£1=60c in 2002)
Suprised to see all the negative views ref the cleanliness. We loved Kefalonia and we were happy with Liberatos.Yes we'd stay there again.

Just spent a week in Liberatos Village.having travelled abroad for 30 years honest opinion.
Rooms.
Cleaned once during our stay including sheets, maybe not quite good enough.Air conditioning big rip off at 50 euros per week.
Pool area
Great, pool kept very clean, always plenty of sun beds available.Bar prices no more expensive than any of the bars in Lassi.Supermarket is very expensive,1 bottle of water £1.50 euros could buy 6 for that in lassi
The infamous hill is a problem especially in the sun and even more so if you walk from the beach which is well below the main Lassi road. However we walked up most nights and it was ok [and we both smoke]be careful walking down, one lady slipped and broke her leg while we were there.
Restaurants in Lassi were all ok,a bit pricey but exchange rate is rubbish at the moment. If you get a bit bored with Greek food there is a fantastic Indian in Argostoli!!
Thought Argostoli was fantastic at night, very pricey but great.
We understand from reading previous reviews that the hotel staff were a problem, can i just say i found this totally untrue, they wer very friendly and very approachable.
Finally we would not hesitate in returning to the liberatos village, yes Cepallonia is a bit more expensive than most Greek islands but the natural beauty of the place is more than worth it.Do hire a car and enjoy.

what a shame 8-(
after booking last minute we decided to take a look at what we'd paid for. we were quite horrified by the reviews but thought perhaps people only comment on the bad, not the good.
we arrived and the setting is truely amazing. contrary to reports the comunal areas and pool were immacute but the appartment (d4) was filthy. there was toothpaste up the mirrors and in the basin, the floor was grim and i pointblank refused to look in the loo! the beds were unmade tho clean towels and bedding were on the foot of the beds. more hair and "stuff" covered the floors. i headed off to ask calmly if the room had been cleaned tho i really just wanted to rage that tripadvisor was right!
anyhow, we did nt unpack but went for a run in the car for an hour. on return things were better but not great, funnily enough their shop stocks lots of cleaning stuff!!!
they seem completely aware of whats being said about the place . . . . so why not "clean up their act?"
i ve been to many greek islands in the past and know what greek standards are, but this is nt it!
apart from the dirty appartments the rest of the place is a quiet haven with great views. we walked the hill in 7 mins but it is steep, but hell its worth it for the views you get!
take my advice, if you ve booked, dont worry, enjoy it for a 2 star rated place that it is but if you re sqeamish about other peoples dirt and mess either kick up til its spick and span or visit that shop for cleaning essentials, you sure as hell wont bump into the cleaners in there!!!
