The proximity to a beautiful beach of the Ionian Sea; the careful way in which the hotel is integrated into the landscape with beautiful flowers and olive trees. The privacy of the suite with ocean view (by the way, everything as published photos). The warmth of the attention of all the staff; but especially of Maria; the manager of the hotel and very specially to emphasize the human quality and warmth of Nikos, of Reception who tried hard to help us with English and speaking Spanish himself; helping us with indications and recommendations of places, requesting taxis to mobilize us; In short, they made our stay very pleasant. He is a very friendly staff. We use the room service a lot; although the letter was not very varied; but the food was super-abundant and delicious. The breakfast very good as well as the quality of sleep. It is advisable to rent a car to travel so beautiful island. We have spent some beautiful days there and of course I highly recommend it.

Room tip: La suite más grande tiene una muy linda vista a los jardines y al mar.

My wife and I are coming to the end of our stay here, 16-23 May. We’re lucky to have been to Kefalonia before, 10 years before, and knew this hotel (albeit it wasn’t built on our last visit) was in a beautiful and quiet area that suited us perfectly.

Our one reservation in our minds when booking was that this was a fairly new and modern hotel, whereas we remembered the quaintness and old charm of Kefalonia from our last visit. How wrong we were... whilst quite new, the Leivatho beautifully blends modern architecture with its natural surroundings, and delivers a high quality experience that is nonetheless full of character, warmth and even cosiness.

If you want a hotel in a busy area with lots of bars and entertainment then this isn’t for you. What this does offer though is a quiet and relaxed stay in lovely surroundings and Greek hospitality. There is a beautiful sandy beach 5 minutes walk away and 2 lovely traditional tavernas at the beach - both very good quality - but otherwise there is little else that nearby without a long-ish walk or short drive. For us this suited perfectly, but it wouldn’t for everybody.

We stayed in a sea view room (D5) which was great - a modern and fresh interior, and a ‘proper’ sea view. The pool area is large enough for the relatively small size of the hotel and we never struggled for space (indeed we had the place to ourselves quite often!) - the pool is very pretty with lovely views and well kept gardens. We also ate breakfast at the hotel and stayed for lunch a couple of times - the food being consistently good and the service, without exception, excellent.

We’re lucky to have stayed in many excellent hotels around the world - always staying 4 or 5 star - but rarely stay at the same place twice. I can see the Leivatho will be an exception to this rule.

For a quiet week in beautiful surroundings and a lovely location this is a fantastic place. What really sets it apart for me though is the staff.

Maria and her team (including all the ‘unsung’ heroes who are more in the background gardening, cleaning, cooking etc) have looked after us fantastically well - with warmth, friendliness, and ‘heart’ - it makes such a difference when you can tell the staff really take care and pride in what they do. We’ve genuinely had a positive experience with every member of staff here (which is sadly rare!) but special note of thanks to the ever-smiling and welcoming Nikos, and the friendly but professional service of Renia and Joanna (both also ever-smiling, and seemingly experts at weather forecasting!).

We’ve had a great stay at the Leivatho Hotel and on beautiful Kefalonia, and despite our usual rule not to, we shall look forward to coming back!

Leivatho Hotel sits just above Avithos beach, just a short downhill walk from the hotel to the beach, the beach bar and two tavernas.
The Hotel owner, Maria, is always on hand to greet you and ensure you have a good holiday and all the staff are friendly and speak perfect English.
The restaurant is a good standard, plenty of local produce and always a varied choice of main meals. The buffet breakfast has a choice of hot and cold food with fresh juice.
Rooms are big and well equipped, air con, small kitchen etc, although the polished concrete floors can initially seem too basic.
The attractive villages around the hotel make for a pleasant drive too and from the main road and the airport only 10 minutes drive, which is another bonus. There are coffee shops and cafes close by in the villages so there is always a choice.

A great hotel, well run and a pleasure to stay in.

We were travelling by mountain bike loaded up with bags and back packs and after getting lost we were looking and feeling hot and scruffy so as we rounded the last corner we spotted a large concrete building that looked a bit abandoned and I wondered if I had made a big mistake!
However around the next little section and up yet another hill we found the front of the hotel and it looked very smart, and despite our ‘rustic’ appearance the staff were really welcoming and friendly.
The room we had booked was simply lovely, well decorated, huge bed, architecturally interesting and it even had a small private garden. It was a little slice of luxury!

My only suggestion would be to call each unit a name rather than a number (as they all look the same) as I managed to forget which one I was in after going for an early morning dip in the pool I found my self wandering around in soaking wet swim wear trying to peer into various windows and trying to open locked doors much to the amusement of the cleaning ladies .....(who kindly helped me out! )
Generally speaking a quality boutique hotel, nice for a special treat.

Located at the best area in southern Kefalonia close to the area's best beaches, this modern design hotel is a great choice for your holidays!
Its nice rooms and the excellent service made our stay quite enjoyable!
Very nice breakfast but also a very decent restaurant if you feel like staying in.
The only issue is that it is a bit expensive compared to the other options you could get.
