“A very good city hotel”
Reviewed January 24, 2012

Although this hotel is in the busy city it offers such a lot to travellers. There is free wifi, free underground parking just across the road and the breakfast is excellent served in the adjoining Cafe/Patisserie, that is accessed direct from the hotel.

The rooms were modern and nicely furnished with modern bathrooms ensuite. The views were not great, but who wants to sit and look out of their window when you can get out and walk and see it.

We stayed for 2 nights in September, and would definitely return again. We had driven from the port of Igoumenitsa and arrived in the dark. It is not very easy to find in the dark, when approaching from that side of town, and driving, but after asking directions we eventually found it. T?he family were very friendly even though we interuppted them watching a major football match.

Hotel Bretania is maybe the most historical city hotel in Epirus. Its main advantage is the pastry shop in the ground floor of the hotel. There are delicious cakes, wifi, and very friendly personnel.
It was an old Ottoman builiding and now a central hotel. Worth visiting it.

i couldn't agree more with the title in German "with only 2 star?". It certainly worths more.

Pros : located in the centre of the city but with free parking in the nearby central underground parking area, free wifi, excellent breakfast buffet with a variety of choices, rooms newly redecorated and modern furnished (just like the photos at Booking).

Cons: only a few rooms have a front view and the most of them (just like the one we stayed at) was facing the walls of the building next to it. Rooms are clean but during our 3 days stay there our sheets and towels weren't changed once. There is no central heating but air conditioning both for hot and cold air.

They should also pay more attention to a few details such a rubbish bin in the room, a couple of glasses etc.
Don't be surprised if they don't ask you for a bank deposit prior to your arrival or for an ID card upon your arrival at the hotel.

Overall, for its price, it's a great choice if you are looking for a central hotel!

We were recommended the hotel by friends who had stayed there a couple of weeks before. Hotel was easy to find, parking opposite and a short walk from the lake and the shopping streets. The room had a modern decor and was well furnished. Breakfast is served in their pastry shop downstairs and was good value with plenty of choice.

The Hotel is situated in one of the main streets of Ioannina, facing an open area. Parking is included in a new secure underground car park almost opposite.
The ground floor has a small reception, with a large stylish and very popular Cafe/Patisserie . Breakfast is taken here with a good choice of the usual things plus traditional Greek items.
Rooms are on the upper floors ,there is a lift, and were recently updated to include a
TV, Telephone, free WiFi, Air Conditioning, and a Refrigerator. Rear rooms have no view but front rooms face the street and park.
It is a bustling street ,with many shops, cafes etc, and leads down to the old walls and lakeside, very popular in the evenings with local people of all ages. There is a great atmosphere, it is very entertaining, and even quite late at night I felt safe walking around.
Town centre hotels don`t suit everyone but if you want a real taste of this part of Greece and its people you will enjoy it, and do be tempted by the beautiful cakes, pastries ,chocolates, and ice creams in the cafe. I was sorry to leave!

I stayed in ioannina for 2 nights to go trekking in the vikos gorge. I read a good review on this site I think about the hotel and the pictures showed the rooms to be very modern even though it was classed as a 2 star. So i'd thought i would bite the bullet and book it. Was a great decision. The hotel was centrally located so easy to walk to restaurants, castle and the main shopping street. The room looked exactly like it did on the internet, very modernand clean, the bathroom has a few broken tiles but this didn't detract from the cleaninless and trendy appeal of the room. Free wifi in the room was a plus. Breakfast was included and was very substantial for a 2 star. This was served at the adjoining cafe next door which was stylish and served excellent selection of ice cream and cookies and other sweet treats -it was also open till late, handy to satisfy any late evening munchie cravings!! Bathrobes and free water was also provided in the room. Generally I couldn't fault it. The owner didn't speak a word of english but other staff did so didn't have many communication problems. The staff were also really lovely. Would highly recommend it.
