Just came back from a one week holiday at Akis Studios. The Appartment was spotless and Akis and his Parents were very welcoming and make you feel part of the Family. The location was perfectly situated near the harbour. The pool and area around it was outstandingly clean and beautiful. At present it is a 2 star rating and I think this at least a 4 star. We will certainly be returning there next year and I would recommend it to anyone. *****

Arrived here late on thursday night 11 august,it was dark and the travel rep disapeared as soon as we had got off the coach. This always fills me with dread as it gives me the feeling that we are arriving to the sort of place that a tramp would look twice at and the rep does not want to hang around to hear the fireworks go off .HOWEVER! this was not to be the case.We arrived at the front gate to a very friendly welcome from Akis and were quickly shown to our rooms wich can only be described as superb. Now the reason i say this is because my wife and i are well travelled in greece and some of the studios we have stayed at, have at best been well used or tired, and at worst not clean or filthy.BUT NOT HERE,the rooms looked almost brand new with nice ceramic floor tiles spotlessly clean kitchen area and bathroom to match.Another bonus is that they dont heat the water in solar heated tanks on the roof here as in the rest of greece,Oh no!Akis has a state of the art high pressure water system wich delivers hot water at a constant pressure EVEN IN THE MORNING! a rare luxury in greece believe me.
Throughout our two week stay the rooms were cleaned every day and bed sheets changed twice a week,
The pool area is pristine and the water in it kept to such a high standard you could almost drink it.The reason for this is Akis has one rule and that is if you have been sun bathing and sweating or have just walked back from the beach you have to rince off in the showers provided before entering the pool.It is a very simple rule and one i agree with as on many previouse holidays i have had to take my daughter to the doctors with an ear infection caused by inept hoteliers who dont have a clue how to keep a pool clean.
The position could not be much better as it is set in a quiet location only a short walk into the center.
Take the time in the morning just to say good morning in greek to mamma and pappa Akis (calla merra) you will find it goes a long way, they are lovely people and fun too.
Parga town is lovely and packed with tavernas most of wich are situated around the harbour, but i enjoyed the tavernas up the hill towards the castle as you get a much beter view there and they are no more expensive.
My only moan about Parga is after an evening meal i used to like to go and find a bar and have a few more drinks before returning to the hotel.BUT YOU CANT,they have all been turned into cocktail bars that charge so much per drink you would think they were trying to pay off the national debt in one week.I am not kidding 8-9 euros each. One night i relented decided not to pay the mortgage and went to the sugar bar only to discover that this particular bar had decided totry and pay the national debt in one night!.How can they do that ?you may ask.WELL ITS BLOODY EASY IF YOU DONT PUT ANY BOOZE IN THE DRINKS.Obviously i complained but was told a standard measure of 50ml was put in every drink.50ml in a cocktail!!!!! thats about as pleasurable as drinking MOUTHWASH and £8.70 a tme.
So my advice would be to find a nice table for dinner and stay there as you can still get a nice gin an d tonic at a fraction of the cost .
So did i enjoy Parga?yes i did and i would recomend Akis studios without a doubt.

Many Thanks Akis a very pleasurable stay

Ignore any bad points from people about Akis' place. the guy it brilliant and will do anything to accomadate you. When we arrived he had come down to where the bus dropped us off on his scooter to make sure we found the place, litterally a 3 min walk with cases to the studios. You are shown around and how to use the ammenaties, it seems a little trival at first and like you are been spoke to like a child but its all in good humour and they are just showing you how things work so you dont break anything.

Showers were spot on with shower tray and curtain, pretty unheard of in greece!

Yes he and his parents have rules but they are only there in place to keep everybody safe and have a good time, people would soon complain a lot more if these rules wernt there! Its all for your own health and safety, quick rinse in shower before the pool, and all other rules are self explanitory, if you dont follow other pool rules and a rule of thumb then you a moron and deserve to be injured.

We asked if he could put the David Haye fight on, and he went out of his way to get his large lcd tv from his own apartment and bring it outside to the bar, for us to watch it which went on until 2/3am.

The place is absolutly immaculate, Akis, Momma and Papa never stop to keep the place in top condition, the only downfall is that you cannot eat food around the pool, bit of a pain but nothing stoping you nipping to your room, this is only in place because if he serves any type of food or alloow people to eat by the pool he is classed as a restaurent and greece government charge huge amounts for this so he is simply keeping the costs down, which is good for everybody right?

We had 8 of us altogether staying here including 2 kids, and made to feel very very welcome, they couldnt do enough for us, and all 3 of the family adored the kids!

We had family staying in another hotel on another beach who came to see us a couple of times and sat around out pool with us, Akis and his parents were happy to have them there as they would have booked there if it wasnt booked up.

A place cant be bad if its fully booked up!!

Parga as a place was much larger than i first expected, no pestering from poeple trying to get you into thier bars/restaurents, there are "lucky lucky" men about but again, these dont bother you, they just sit on the wall and wait for you to come to them, plenty of places to eat and drink for oldies and young people alike, me and my girlfriend love going for walks and there are plenty of them, one amusing part was the walk through the olive groves to the adjascent beach, where it looked liked a fair part of the olives groves had burnt down and the trail no longer slowly wound up the hill, it just went straight up which was challenging, nevertheless, loved it and from here you will see some awesome views.

Food in and around parga, once again is brilliant, never had a bad meal nor a bad pint, there is one restaurant in the middle of the strip (its white and blue with a large circular opening on the front overlooking the sea and island).. cant remember the name, which is booked up every night and the waiters really pester you to get you in and then sat you to wait outside on the wall for 30 mins, friends of ours went in and said it wasnt all that great so avoid this place, cant remember the name but you'll see the greasy slimeball trying to get you to come in, lol. in no way is this a complaint to Akis and his apartments. just a point of a place to not bother wasting your time at as every other place is nice to eat.

Prices really arnt that bad a att, averaging 3euro for a large mythos, food is generally cheap to eat out.

If in doubt of where to go just ask Akis, I think this man knows just about everybody in Parga!

Summing it up, Akis, Momma and Papa are great, loved them to bits, rules are good, everybody is safe, shame you cant eat around the pool but thats the greek government for you, not Akis. Wouldnt hesitate for one second to return here. Brilliant people, place food and beer.

What more do you need?

Room Tip: Put food in your room.

Having read some of the reviews on this site - we were a little unsure of what to expect at Akis studios - Word of Warning "IGNORE ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS" - Akis and his mamma and papa are wonderful hosts - the apartments are spotlessly clean thanks to some wonderful and very hard working maids who clean thouroughly every day. The rooms are spacious and airy and have great facilities - close to the centre and beaches - no steep inclines to walk up. We have had a wonderful two weeks here and made good friends in Akis and his family. Akis is a very funny man who may come across as fussy at first - however this is not the case, just listen to what he tells you when you are taken to your rooms - dont think too much about it - and a little bit later it all makes sense really. We would definatley return here and recommend it to anyone. Parga is amazing - try the resteraunts in the side and back streets - much quieter and less crowded.

Room Tip: all rooms are lovely - nice views

We stayed in Akis' during June and we cannot fault it at all. It was so spotless you could have eaten off the floor. I would say it's more 3 stars than 2 star. Akis and his family were always on hand for us. The linen was changed regularly. Fabulous pool and location. Would stay there again for sure. PARGA is fabulous.
