“Lovely location”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

Our room was in the block furthest from the pool. We were on the ground floor and had a private patio. Room is typically Greek. Clean (although we did find some makeup in a drawer but think this was just an oversight), basic accommodation. Maids came regularly to clean and change sheets although you did have to put a "do not disturb" sign on your door if you didn't want them coming in before 11am. Pool is a decent size with ten umbrellas and lots of sunbeds plus a couple of hammocks. The water was clean but it needed a good clean round the edges. Owners were ok but I think they are probably friendlier to you if you eat at the snack bar. We ate there once 5 euros for a cheese sandwich. It was nice enough bu nothing special . If you walk two minutes to Harmoni apartments you can get a lovely Greek salad for the same price so we did that a few times.
Excellent location though, pleasant walk into the harbour. Also if you don't want to walk into Parga there are some lovely tavernas less than ten minutes away, Perivoli (ate here at lunchtime too), Five Senses and Yammis.
We asked If we could keep our room on on the last day (it's 20 euros) and were told we couldn't. Really disappointing end to the holiday especially as we were the only people who couldn't keep the room on and we knew there was at least a two hour delay so they would have had plenty of time to clean one room! Think it was a bit mean actually. Luckily we met a lovely young couple who had been allowed to keep their room on and they very kindly allowed us to use their room for a shower etc before we left. So thanks again Arran and Megan!!
In summary though, if the price was right I would go back to these apartments. We had a nosey at the Elena and Harmony apartments and although they seem more modern some of the apartments are directly overlooking the road whereas Aristidis are set back from the road.
On a separate note, Small Planet airlines are a nightmare. We were delayed eleven and a half hours going out from Manchester. The plane had flown in from Kos and was eventually grounded due to technical difficulties. Absolutely no information for the first four hours. We eventually flew with Stategic at 5.20pm instead of 6am! I won't be booking with olympic again until they stop using this joke airline.

We were a family of four (2 boys aged 19 and 17) who stayed in two apartments booked via Olympic Hoildays in early June.

Apartments - Three blocks with about 10 apartments in each block. Accommodation is greek style basic but the grounds are very spacious with fantastic scenery. Rooms were cleaned daily and beds changed every other day.

Pool - is excellent. Clean and a decent size with plenty of sunbeds and was generally very quiet as lot of people staying in Aristides tended to hire a car and explore further a field. There was a small bar that sold usual beers and soft drinks and ice cream. They also did snacks such as pizzas, toasties and salads. Prices were more expensive than supermarket prices but that is the norm everywhere.

Owners - were very nice people and alway made the effort to say hello in the morning. They didn't speak a great deal of English (and why should they) but were always on hand to help if needed.

Olympic Reps - were excellent and visited mosts days and were always available if you needed to ask a question but were never pushy trying to sell you things.

Location - Apartments were very tranquill and relaxing and cerainly no high jinks round the pool. The walk into the centre Parga was around 10-15 minutes (add another 5minutes for the walk back) and very pleasant. Coming back wasn't too much of a problem either. The last 200m is when the road has a small incline.

The apartments are on the same road as Harmony Studios, Aliki and Hotel Elena but a couple of hundred metres further on. As mentioned in other reviews there are a number of excellent restaurants close by. There are also several supermarkets closeby although it's worth noting that the owners of Aristides sell large bottles of water in packs of six which saves you the hassle of carrying from the supermarket.

Parga itself is fantastic. Very prettty and charming with a laid back atmosphere and lots of different nationalities staying in the resort. We ate in a different restaurant each evening and they were all excellent. Price of food and drinks were very competitive and were good value for money. Nightlife was generally low key but there are a number of bars on the harbour front that were fairly lively and with a mixture of tourists and locals.

There are plenty of day trips available from the harbour and a number of beaches to choose from if you wanted a change from the pool.

Overall a fantastic holiday and Aristides Gardens was a really nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Tip - we had an early evening departure and the 20 euros it cost us to keep our apartment past the 1...

Booked with Olympic and chose Arisitidis for its out of town setting. Good choice, although a 10 minute walk from town, worth the distance to get the peace and quiet on an evening. Rooms I guess are pretty standard in Greece, chose to take the aircon, which proved a blessing as the temperature got up to 46 degrees one day! Spent most days at the small beach down the road, only on the last day did we go to the pool, but very clean and also quiet. Hard work walking back from the beach during the heat of the day, but a nice stroll back in the evening. Lots of restaurants on the way down to the harbour, but we spent most nights at the Golfo restaurant on the small beach - lovely home made food, greek/english owner who makes you feel very welcome. We travelled on a Thursday so ended up with Small Planet airlines - never heard of them. Trip from Manchester was fine, but delays for everyone on the way back - the morning Gatwick flight was delayed 15 hours, ours delayed 5 hours, so not a great end to the holiday, but couldnt fault the accommodation or the location or the resort. Of all the places we saw around town, I think we got the best place for peace and quiet, cleanliness and helpful staff. Definitely recommend it, Manos also use this accommodation, not sure how they compare on price.

My husband and I stayed here on June 2012 and very much enjoyed it. Here's what you should know if you are considering a booking:

Location – the Aristidis Gardens is about a 20 minute walk from Parga Harbour (downhill on the way, up on the way back). We enjoyed the walk though it is probably not best suited for anyone with mobility problems or with a general aversion to walking. The benefit of having this distance from the centre is the peace and tranquillity that the accommodation provides and the beauty of its surroundings.

Room – our room was what we would expect from a Greek apartment. Basic but functional with sufficient storage, appliances and a decent enough shower. It was plenty roomy enough and having a ground floor room we had a nice patio area with high rooms having a balcony. We did find our room hot at night but we were blessed with higher than average temperatures for the time of year (36 degrees) and we had not paid the extra for the air con. We did rent the safe for our 2 weeks stay which cost 20 Euros.

Pool – the pool was lovely and clean, set in a nice garden area surrounded by hills and trees. It was never busy when we were there and there was never an issue getting a sunbed. There is a pool bar which also serves basic lunchtime snacks.

Atmosphere – the Aristidis is a friendly place. Staff helpful and very nice. When we stayed, we found other guests to be friendly and respectful of the tranquillity of the setting. Guests seemed to be a mixture of English and Dutch – mostly couples (young and older).

Eating – the accommodation does have self catering facilities. However this is the usual offering for Greece – a couple of electric rings and a fridge. We ate out and had nice meals throughout the resort. There are 3 or 4 nice restaurants between the apartments and harbour if a shorter walk is preferred some nights. The Perivoli, Senses and Yannis are all about 10 minutes walk and can be recommended.

Prices – as an indication based on June 2012 (in Euros): large draft beer 3.50, litre house wine 7.00, coke/sprite etc 2.00, evening meal for 2 people between 30.00 – 50.00 (depending on restaurant and number of courses etc).

Resort – Parga is beautiful and retains a Greek feel. It is steep in places so best suited to those that don't mind a bit of walking. More for couples than families. There is a beach in Parga itself and two more nearby which can be walked to or accessed via water taxi.

Tip – take mosquito spray. There were a lot around the resort and the were biters!

Summary – ideal for couples who don't mind a little walking and enjoy a beautiful, peaceful location.

Aristides studios are typically greek in that they are basically equiped but clean well looked after. The pool area is peaceful and a welcome change from the bustle of Parga. Its only a 20 minute walk into town, which is a pretty resort with easily accessible beaches and plenty of places to visit and some of the best Greek tavernas we've ever eaten in. Perivole, close to Arisidis is excellent but watch the portions as they are BIG! Stefanos close to the castle is an excellent fish taverna with lobster at 25euros and to die for.

Last minute booking to Parga found us staying at Aristidis Gardens. A little out of the centre of Parga - about 15 minutes down hill to a lovely pebble beach - very nice walk but much harder coming back - particularly in the heat of the day. Basic accommodation but clean and functional however, the pool is fabulous - very peaceful setting with a nice mountain backdrop. We stayed in room G3 in the third block on the ground floor and managed without the need for air con. Nice to sit outside apartment eating breakfast.

Parga is very lovely and we spent most days on the piso krioni beach - bliss! We ate mainly at Perivoli restaurant which is the closest to the apartment - fabulous! The food, staff and ambiance truly wonderful and not expensive - two starters, main courses and coffees plus large beer and half litre wine less than 35 euros.

If you are thinking about Parga - you should definitely go - but probably not in July or August as I was told you can hardly move around the town! Lovely place and I can't wait to return!

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Aristidis Gardens with Olympic Holidays. On arrival in Parga we had to walk with cases from the main road, about 10 minutes uphill, in the midday sun to the accomodation. There was no reception area at the Aristidis and the keys were already in the doors of our studios.

We stayed in the first block rooms A11 which looked over the road, goats, rubbish and scrappy old builders yard with dumped rubbish and A16, which had a much prettier view of the pool area. We couldn't actually open the door to room A11first of all and had to tell the owner. Owners do not speak English but showed us that there was a knack of lifting and pulling it at the same time as turning the lock. This room was meant to be our son's but he couldn't open the door so we had to swap. Basically if you couldn''t open or lock the door you were in trouble as there was no way the owner was going to do anything to fix it. When we finally got in the floor of both studios were covered in water from the defrosting freezer. The owners wife came with a mop and bucket to wipe up. We then paid 40 euros per room for air conditioning and 15 euros for use of safe in room.

Both our rooms were small but neighbouring rooms were much bigger. Bathroom very basic with slow running shower in one room much faster in the other. The rooms were clean and maid service was every day except Sunday. Sheets were changed once during the week. Beds were hard and pillows lumpy. Pool area was very nice although sunbeds were hard plastic which I found uncomfortable.

These apartments are 20 minutes from the harbour, partly walking uphill back to hotel. I found this walk unbearable in the heat of the day.

Restaurants around Parga all seem to cook more or less same food. Not too much fresh shellfish (frozen calamari, shrimps) fresh bass/bream caught locally and usual Slovaki and meat dishes. Cost around 40 - 45 euros for three of us including drinks starter and main course. We usually ate the 5 Senses Restaurant which is on route to the Harbour which was very pleasant.

Parga itself is very quite more suited to older families and couples. Not good for the elderly or people with walking difficulties.

Overall I would say that after the bad start at the Aristidis we had a very quite peaceful holiday in basic accomodation quite a distance from the main centre. I would not return to the Aristidis. Parga is one of those places that to me doesn't offer alot. Scenery is nice. The shops sell the usual tat sold in most Greek seaside resorts. I know of much pretty places in Greece and although Parga is pleasant, I would not return.
