“Return to Symi”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We have just returned from another wonderful holiday staying at Odyssia Apartments on Symi. I love the spanking-clean bedding, the fresh towels, the immaculate daily cleaning, the sense of comfort, with top quality equipment throughout the apartments. If there's anything you need, you just have to ask. This year, there's a new chef, with real flair, so we ate in the cafe more often than in previous years, and watched World Cup football on the screen that Manoles set up in the cafe, against the backdrop of the velvety Greek night. The view of the harbour is superb and we spend hours just gazing. It's true that the terraces are shared rather than being the minute individual balconies that can be seen on the apartments and hotels nearby; but as Odyssia terraces are spacious, we prefer this. We will be back again next year, and the year after, and the year after.

Apartments are in a prime location. Our apartment was well designed and immaculately clean, light and airy with a large comfortable bed. Balcony was great for breakfast and a quiet drink in the afternoon and what a view. Manolis is a friendly and generous host. We only had 4 days but would have liked to stay longer. Highly recommended

These are great apartments very clean and with great views of the coastline. Very resonable price. The air conditioning never worked but I was ensured that it did! The shower was small and you had to hold it like most in Greece.
Just one warning, the Apartments do not have their own terraces/balconys but large shared ones which go around the building - we found this fine and actually quite enjoyed the space but this was spoilt by a dirty old man employee (old job man) who kept trying to look into our apartment and who was really annoying. Its a shame as Im sure this is not the kind of thing the owners would approve of. We can handle ourselves and just told him to 'get lost' but because of this I would not recommend these apartments to young women or friends who have teenage daughters.

Four couples on an island strolling started by catamaran from Rhodes to Symi. I had booked 4 rooms for 2 nights, and hoped my friends would be saticfied. My friend were so amazed that we prolonged the stay with another day. On the return to Rhodes our original plan was 2 day on Kos, but with Odyssia in mind we decided to to return to Symi and Odyssia for another 2 days. All bookings were done by mail, very effective handled by Aggeliki. On arrival we were met by the white VW van to collect our luggage. On departure our luggage were delivered on board the ferry. Very nice service. On arrival to the appartement, Manoli waited with an ice cold beer. Great.
Our group got the three first floor rooms and the top-room - like living in a tower. Very good cleaning. No problems with anything but some smell in the bathroom in the "tower". For us as a group, the common terrace were as custom made. Nice place to gather for the morning coffee and the evening drink.
The breakfast is well specified at their web-site. I must say it seems a little odd to have "one glass of milk" and "one plate of corn-flakes" in a breakfast for two, but as my wife dont drink milk it was ok. Dinners were great with the best moussaka in our trip. For me: the small fishes and the Symi-scrimps. The serving were with a great deal of humour, and it became a standing joke "pay next year". We are already talking of returning next year.
When on Symi I recommend to take the bus to Pedi (every hour) and walk the 20 minutes to St Nikolas beach. It is worth it.

From the second we arrived we found this family business run like a 5 star operation, greeted by owner Manooloo and Angelicque ( more like your long lost uncle and aunty) the rooms are all clean spacious modern and with an amazing view of the mountains and ocean. Seriously we spent 4 hours looking for the perfect paradise for our holiday we never thought it would be as good a this, just book it then comment on how good it was and how you want to come back, thank you M and A for making our stay magical x

We've stayed at Odyssia almost every year since 2003 and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The accommodation is outstanding - a really high quality of cleanliness, space (even in the smaller apartments there's plenty of room), equipment such as bedding and towels (wonderful) and cooking stuff if you want to cater for yourselves - and the view of the harbour is magical. You can step into translucent water straight from the cafe that's on the ground floor, if you wish. There are small boats moored alongside but they don't present any hazards. Symi is often coated in dust, but not the Odyssia apartments. As in other places, we've experienced rude guests, but Angela and Manoles are always helpful and courteous. We aren't the only people to come back year after year, or to be greeted as dear and valued friends. The complaints in some other reviews about lack of privacy are baffling. Everything is spotless because the staff care about our comfort. If you don't want daily cleaning and every other day clean bedding, say so. The balconies are not railed off into separate areas but they are spacious. It's the high spot of the year to stay here and to have a ringside seat, watching the harbour turn gold every evening at sunset.

I thought I would be writing a negative report of the Odyssia because when we first arrived I wasn't that impressed. There was a minimally furnished kitchen and the decor wasn't that great but since we arrived I've talked to other people staying here who say it's the best place on the island, especially in view of it's cleanliness and hot water. A neighbor next door to our unit said they have tried other places in Simi which turned out to be dirty and with no hot water but that is not the case here and they have returned year after year. There is no longer the English chef mentioned by others or the waiter and service is pretty slow in the restaurant so we stopped going but it has a great view of the harbor-even though it is a shared terrace and one night had loud children running back and forth-it's close to the small local man made beach, not that far to the business section of Simi or the ferry landing. We would stay here again should we return. The owner was friendly and, except for not having a hair blower, we had great service. It's almost impossible to get such a view for 70 Euros a night (we stayed 8 nights)Simi is a great place to visit.
