“A Definite "See it", but be warned”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

What I found most interesting is that this is where John spent his time while writing the Book of Revelations. I enjoyed being part of that history, but what I didn't like was how crowded it was. As a result it was hard to absorb the ambience of the moment, as you are being rushed through if you are with a tour group. If you can go on your own, I think it would be more memorable. There are many stairs to get down to the cave, and then back up again so be prepared for some exercise to see it.

“Historic place but ...”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

We finally found the entrance to the monastery/cave after signage ran out and were surprised to find a 'house' that went down several levels with various rooms off, all whch were either being worked on or shut! We came to see the cave so on reaching it, was disappointed to not have any information as to what we were seeing. A friend who visited quite a few years back described a very different place - with a spot where John was supposed to kneel and another spot where his scribe sat to write Revelation. We didn't see either of these inside what was really a church in a cave. Had to say we'd been I guess and for only 2 euros ... Perhaps when all the alterations etc are finished it will be better present.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

It's just a cave, but it's where the last book of the bible was written, so there is a huge sense of history.
You can take the bus from Skala for 1 Euro.

“talk with God”

I had the chance to visit the monastery of Apocalypse at Good Thursday. The whole experience was fantatsic. The atmosphere of devoutness made this special night a real religious night. Every Christian should visit this place, where the Apocalypse was inspired and written.

“If you haven't visited it, you haven't visited Patmos.”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

It's the main and the most important place to visit on Patmos, and it really is the holy place for all the Christians. A must-see.
