“Fantastic location overlooking the harbour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2010

I stayed here with a friend - we're both in our twenties - just before the start of the main tourist season and we were quite happy. Most people staying here seemed to be on a package holiday (we did a DIY hol) and are a lot older or families.

The hotel is the usual standard for Greek hotels, they upgraded us a to a self-catering apartment for free because it wasn't busy which was nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice and if you're early you can get an outdoor table and eat overlooking the harbour.

There's free Wifi in the reception. This was a great location for being able to walk into town for a night out and walk home safely afterwards in the early hours of the morning. Alternatively, turn left for a nice beach and some beachside restaurants.

Upside:
- The stunning view of the harbour
- Fantastic location.
- Quiet so you'll sleep peacefully

Downsides:
- The pool is on the roof and has great views but the pool itself is very small and a little scuzzy. We went to the beach instead and swam in the clear sea.
- Our balcony overlooked an army building. We enjoyed the view of the soldiers, but not the 8am bugle every morning! And on Sunday they had an 8am marching band to wake us up!
- The hairdryer in the bathroom had loose wires which were taped up, which was obviously dangerous.

Having booked through an on-line agency, at a highly attractive price including flights, we were at first disappointed not to be allocated a room with a view of the harbour as this was certainly implied by the agency’s description of the hotel. But our disappointment vanished by having a quiet room at the back of the hotel overlooking an enclosed courtyard.

Rooms were clean, tidy and welcoming though the beds might be a bit hard for some. The rooftop swimming pool was spoilt by the occasional smell of sewage, possibly from another building nearby.

Only real complaint was that on our last night the swimming pool cleaning equipment kicked-in automatically and, this being almost immediately above our room, was much too noisy. But at least when we complained, at 2am, we were moved speedily to another room for the night.

Stayed here for the first 2 weeks of september and will never do so again. Hotel rooms are ok but very basic, bathroom was dirty no pressure on hot water so a cold / warm shower. Shower hand held with no shower curtain ( just as well given the state of the rest of the bathroom) so bathroom gets flooded. Room service was very good clean towels every day sheets 3 times a week. The location is very good and breakfast will set you up for the day We had a side view which over looked armies house opposite but that was about all. Kos town is ok. well worth a trip out on one of the many boats from the harbor. Roof top pool water was dirty could not see the bottom and had pidgins bathing and drinking the water

The hotel has the best position if staying in Kos town. It has a central location overlooking the Harbour which if you are going on the boat trips or ferry is ideal. The Hotel has free Wi-Fi. Great value for money, I paid 200 euros for a weeks bed and breakfast for 2 people. No complaints about the room (No. 135) , everything was in order.

At 8 am each morning the army raise the flag at it's offices accross the street to the accompaniment of music which may disturb some people.

There was a nasty smell from time to time in the corridors. The worst was the swimming pool on the roof. It was in a terrible state, pieces of wood hanging off with nails in them. How can the hell can somebody not clean the pool or least cordon it off saying beware "Stagnant water. Enter at your own risk".

I would recommend this hotel at the right price.

Hotel can not really recommend. The price is absurd in relation to quality. We are particularly disappointed by the inaction of air-conditioning, cleaning and bathroom.

The hotel's official rating is 4, but it is our experience that the rooms of the 2 +, if it is puddle-sized swimming pool as a criterion for 2 + + would be good.

The location is okay if the bibulous young people and the street noise does not interfere. This with the proviso that the room is indeed has view overlooking the port.

The delay was due the fact the we got the pig flu on the flight or from the island. I still have the sequeals to compeate with..... :(

We spent only two nights in this hotel which was a nightmare ! We booked from hotel web and we really paid a huge amount considering this is supposed to be one of the top hotels in Kos Town! Hotel inself is very old and neglected.. Our room was dirty, balcony door broken, I can not describe bathroom.. The smell of the garbage and humidity in our room floor was incredible. On our second day in the hotel, the room appeared not to have been cleaned at all and even our bed wasn't made properly, towels were not changed.. Breakfast : such a fiasco ! food was inedible and the coffee and tea undrinkable due to the water which seemed to have the flavour of cleaning fluid! We treid to talk with general manager/duty manager but she was always out of the hotel and busy.. We tried to explain to the receptionist lady but she was so rude and irrelevant, always on the phone chatting with her friends.. The same category of hotels in the island was half the price and vastly superior !

Didn't know what to expect since this place has had mixed reviews on other websites. However, for our brief late-season visit, it proved to be perfectly acceptable (although I should imagine things are a bit different in high season). Good location overlooking Kos's picturesque harbour, and just a short distance from the beach.

  • Liked — Good location - near all facilities without being noisy
  • Disliked — Staff not especially welcoming
