Just back from a week at the Kontessa Apartments, Kefalos, Kos. Great apartments, lovely people, especially Caril who runs the bar! Worth going back just to see her! Had a restful week, lovely food in local restaurants, Greek people just as lovely and friendly as ever.
Sadly, not many visitors about, locals cite fear of economic problems in Greece, and refugees - neither an issue. Would highly recommend both the Kontessa and Kefalos as a great place for a holiday...and get to meet Caril!!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms all have a great view of the sea.

We spent a week at the Kontessa apartments 5th - 12th August and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartments are basic but clean and the grounds are lovely and very well maintained. My 7 and 5 year old loved the swimming pools and there was no shortage of sun loungers! We are at the snack bar several times and found Carol to be very helpful if we had any questions about the local area. Kefalos is a beautiful resort and I would recommend it and the Kontessa apartments. We didn't find Joanna strange at all, she was very welcoming and friendly. If you want to hire a car locally for 1 or 2 days I would advise booking it the day you get there if you can.

Room Tip: It is worth paying for air conditioning!!

Fantastic apartments, great views out across the bay. Pool and surrounding area is spotless. Caryl who runs the pool side snack bar is an absolute gem. Good knowledge about all the "eateries" and "watering holes " in the area. Her breakfasts are wonderful and sets you up for the day. True the shower is very hit and miss in the apartment, but the standard and cleanliness of accommodation is very good

Lovely clean, ideally placed apartments in the Kos resort of Kefalos. I would recommend this to anybody thinking of holidaying on this lovely Greek Island. Had a great time and for the most part, whilst at the apartments, we were looked ably after by a very nice "Northern English" girl named Caryl. The location is a stones throw from the sea and the nearby shops and bars, but don't worry, it's by no means a noisy resort, so apartments remain for the most part very peaceful and quiet.
The owner/cleaner is a lady named Johanna. I would describe her as slightly different and set in her ways ("the customer is always right" doesn't sit comfortably on her shoulders) in spite of this, she's really ok and I would be more than happy to go back, hence the rating above!

The stuff in the papers (immigrants etc) is rubbish sensationalism, no problems at all. The locals are great and you can buy anything you need at prices that are cheaper than most other places where you are likely to spend your Summer Holidays!.
