I stayed for the first time on Kastelorizo in June, and very much enjoyed my stay. Mediterraneo is a small hotel down at the end of the harbour where the swimming is good. It's well looked after, carefully decorated and clean with a lot of thought clearly having gone into it's appearance. The room was plenty big enough for me, had beautiful views over the harbour and a good, hot shower. Breakfast was excellent (cheeses, breads, fruit, eggs, plenty of coffee etc). The owner wasn't there during my stay, but the couple who were looking after the property were very helpful. I would emphasise that the hotel is small and if you want somewhere with a huge choice for breakfast, a bar, lots of gadgets in the room etc you are probably best elsewhere. If you want somewhere well run for a relaxing break away from things for a while I would very much recommend Mediterraneo.

We stayed for three nights. We booked the suite which is essentially the whole of the ground floor of the hotel. The room was large with ample space to sit inside or out. What comes with the room is the entire terrace that you see in the photos - this is the private terrace for the people who book this room (although other guests are told this, they don't seem to appreciate/like it very much) - so if you are wondering why you are paying 70 euros more than anyone else, this is the reason - space and a great terrace and we thought it was worth it. The terrace is a fantastic place to watch the island from. The room was a little basic for the price we were paying, but it did meet my expectations. We had friends staying in the hotel next door (Hotel Megisti) and I prefer where we stayed although we were surprised that there was no air conditioning in the room for the price paid. We found that with the windows open and the fan on it is acceptable for the month of Sept, but I would hate to be there in the heat of July or Aug without air conditioning. We found the bed to be really comfortable and the fridge was well equipped with water and wine. The bathroom was a little smelly (which is my experience with a lot of Greek plumbing and other friends in the hotel next door complained of the same thing. The bathroom had a good shower and everything that you need, so no problems there. The breakfast I found to be inadequate and most days we would snack on the tomato and cucumber, a piece of bread and some yoghurt and then later go around to radio cafe for an adequate breakfast and coffee, so I felt that the breakfast could have been a lot better. Marie has done the interiors very well and although relatively basic, it was also very romantic and all our friends on the island seemed jealous of our choice of accommodation. The views are great from the hotel and yes, you can hear the nightclub on the island, but so can everyone else for that matter. The island of Kastelorizo is magical and well worth a visit. So why do I give it four stars....yes it is not luxury, but you are on a beautiful island, with great little restaurants, a room that appears better than most and some style about it. I would definitely return....please get air conditioning for the room Marie and we will book tomorrow!

Great location with an amazing view on the bay. Relaxing and romantic atmosphere, ideal for couples looking for quiet.
The room was a sea view and was very well decorated but there was not air conditionated. It could be a nice retro touch but with these temperatures it could be a problem, especially during the night. The bathroom was small but nice.
The breakfast was served on the terrace and was very good.
Marie, the owner, seemed not very interested to her guests. She didn't welcome us and she didn't provide any information related to the hotel or the island. Sometimes she seemed to prefer her friends or old guests who came back.

The hotel needs some improvements:

- a better wifi connection (the wifi didn't work in the room and outside but in the back only and not very well)

- a shower outside in the swimming area

- A bar to take something to drink/eat could be very useful

For all the rest, Kastellorizo is a lovely place.
Look forward to come back.

We booked in mediterraneo because it looked small and carefuly decorated. The room - N 2- we where given was exactly it. No air-condition, no TV, no bathing products, no bar, but a room with two windows with Very nice view, well and carefuly looked after and this is all we expected in Kastelorizo. Breakfast was served until 11 but the staff adviced us not to come after 9,30 because there was no shade and as we find out there was NO shade in did. Breakfast on this terrace was small torture N 2. Big torture N1 was the bed. What a bed? How is possible in a place where the olny service given is the "bed" and the "breakfast" to have them both one worse than the other and ask 100 euros for it. VERY BAD. We where lucky we did not pay a deposit so we could leave the place paying only one day.

I've been to Kastellorizo for one week this month and I feel I must share this experience with people because it has been one of the most special and beautiful places I've ever been. The place, the people, the food, peace and tranquility that surrounds you in this remote island, even being surrounded by people, is comparable to very few places in the world. Marie's Mediterraneo Hotel immerses you in the free and easy spirit that surrounds the island. The beauty of the rooms and good treatment of people who carry it, make your vacation into an unforgettable experience. I'm looking forward to go back as soon as possible.

Our stay was wonderful. The rooms are very beautiful decorated and the beds are very comfortable. But the best things are the breakfast and the wonderful location on the end of the quay.Breakfast is serviced on a terrace and had a lot to offer, bread, croissants, marmelades, cheese, tomatoes, omelettes, fresh orange juice etc.But waking up in the morning, the view over the sea and village should make everybody happy. It is a lovely relaxed island (maybe more partying in high season) with superb seafood restaurants. Go there! And stay in the only hotel with personality (thanks to the french owner/architect Marie):Mediterraneo!
