We find the beach on our way to Northern Karpathos
I rate it as one of the top five beaches in Greece, and I have visited endless beaches in Greece...
On hint. Dont eat in the neraby Taverna
It has all the negative points that it is the only place you can eta nearby.
We arrived there at 6:40 pm ( the Tavern officially closes at 7:00 pm). We were trying to find out if we could find something to eat. Although the owen saw us he made no reaction ( he was drinking beers with his friends). At last we asked a waiter boy and we told us that we could sit.
Then the owner came and when I asked what there is for eating, he told us quite rude "you are late-All the beach has already eaten here today"and that " only salads and what comes out of the fire ( fried or grilled) were available..
We got a small plate of cooked octapus + a plate of fried baby shrimps + some local cheese , Bread ( it was the rest of other probably, it was dry like "paximadi" and some raki
No tableclothe, no water for 33euro. Of course there was not offred fruit as a treat as is always offred in tavernas in Karpathos.
The ower at the end tried to be more polite, porbably he understood that we wre deeply dissapointed.
But for 35e you can eat in Karpathos real local quality food and with the manner of the real aegean hospitality, that they dont look at you only as Euro.
And the worst thing is that the smae man will try to tempate you , like they do, if a new Tavern will open there next year ( I strongly hope that this will happen, in order to undestand that descent tourists dont tolate monopolies).
Next day althought we were houngry we did not go there again.
We finnaly got to a real nice Taverna - Marinas Taverna . Its on the sea way
of the town of karpathos at the real end of it, on the way to Apella
You should try it.
For 39 euros, we got an enormous greek salad, 2 enormous plates of local lamp with oven bakes potates (the best i have eaten for many years - cooked in their own wood oven ), cooked fresh mixed vegetables, and the highlight ( for my tastes) Dakos with home made bread and Paximadia (made and baked by Marina of course ) and Manouli cheese.
Really the best Dakos i have ever tasted (and I come from Creta).
Of course in the price 2 times Raki( local spirit) and a treat came after the payment of home made Rizogalo( sweet rice with milk- splendid).
Marinas taverna remind me of the good food that we used to eat every day in Greece 20 or 30 years ago.
Thats all I wanted to share with me latest experience in Karpathos.
Visit the island has a lot to offer but be aware of bad manners

Just by chance, we discovered Apella Beach, during our short vacation in Karpathos. It is really magnificent!
Light Blue water, Caraibi style. The beach itself is with peebles and comfortable to stay on it. There are umbrellas and sun beds. You can reach it by car (the road is narrow and steep, but it is well kept), or by shuttle boat, from Pigadi. Definitely if you come to Karpathos you should visit it. Ciao

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. When you see this beach, you can not believe that something like this exists! This beach is definitely the reason why people visit Karpathos.

It is a nice beach with beautiful surroundings, but even in late afternoon there is plenty of people there and there are beaches on Karpathos, where you can stay alone all day long.

A wonderful beach. the water is clear and the beach clean.
A fantastic place to be.
We were there in August, it was overcrowded. Lots of cars an people.
But in spite of this you could see how beautiful this place would be if it was was empty.

Loved the pebbles, all the natural shade, pine trees, lots of space, great water. We were there in late September and there weren't a lot of people on the beach.
The only problem is the limited parking space (it wasn't a problem for us, but I imagine it might be in the summer months), so arrive early.
There are a few stairs that lead to the beach from the parking space.
Don't forget to climb over the rock to check out the second part of the Apella beach (to the right).
