I have stayed at this hotel a number of times and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The hotel feels like home from the genuinely friendly welcome from Nikolas and his family to the clean and spacious rooms. We are so impressed we now use this hotel for all our climbing courses that we run in Kalymnos. The hotel is also ideally located for all the main climbing sectors.

Room Tip: Top floor have studio apartment's which are nice if you want some extra space

We only stayed here two nights while searching for a long term apartment but we were pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. The room had a massive patio with a stunning view and the bathroom had a full shower and tub with good water pressure. Nicolas, the owner, was welcoming and helpful. If you want to climb, it is in a spectacular location below the Grand Grotta. Overall, I would recommend this to budget travellers.

My wife and I were there at the end of March in the "off" season. The studio was nice and clean. The owner was extremely hospitable and it was obviously quiet. We were there for climbing and the location was great. Far enough away from the town that it was quiet and close enough to be handy. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at The Philoxenia in July 2012, and it surpassed my expectations.
We booked through Manos, Thomas Cook as a late booking.
The only other Greek island we had previously visited was Kefalonia, and this accomodation beat anything there.
We had a seaview room, and the views are breathtaking. The rooms are clean although basic. Typical of Greek accomodation. The beds are a little hard but we were pleased with the room.
Nicholas and his family do everything they can to make you welcome. His mum also cooks nice meals, which we tried at lunchtime.
The pool was spotless, and it was welcome as the weather is baking hot in July.
The bus stops outside the Hotel, and we used it to go to Porthia , and Emporios, which is well worth a visit.
We would like to return, perhaps in Late September when it's a little cooler.

We spent a wonderful relaxing week at the Hotel Philoxenia in June The location is superb, George,Maria and Nick make you feel so welcome.

Hire a moped to see the rest of this beautiful island, we can thoroughly recommend it. There are a number of good restaurants within walking distance or try Maria's "home cooking".

We have just spend a week in Kalymnos and at Philoxenia. The rooms are not very big but enough. The kitchen area is a bit small and really very basic cutlery so if you need anything special for your cooking bring it from home as well as other stuff needed for washing up. Really nice view over the sea and Telendos. Good location, in Kalymnos I think it is much better not to live in the "city" but outsite. The walk to Massouri takes about 5 minutes. The traffic is very calm so you can easily rent a scooter and go around the island. We rented ours at the Mikes which was closes to the hotel 12EUR for 50CC/day. The northen part is much nicer than the southern part. Emporios is a really nice place. And if you dare go down for the steep slope just before Emporios there is a really nice beach. If you want a quite beach near the hotel (the one in Massouri is quite noicy and lots of people) walk towards Emporios outside the hotel. After the last house on the right hand side is a small pebbly beach, Takes about 5 minutes.
The small shop closes to the hotel is a nice but small place to shop. Open 7am - 12pm.
When we were there there were always sunchairs available at the nice pool. This is not always the case at other hotels. The rooms were cleaned everyday, nice and clean. Enjoy your stay!

Just spent a week at the Hotel Philoxenia, and what a truely wonderful place to stay. Nicholas who owns and runs the hotel is the most friendly and helpful person you could meet, it is really important to him to make sure you have a good holiday. This is a family run hotel, Nicholas mother Maria is a wonderful cook and will cook whatever you require at a very reasonable price, nothing is too much trouble for them. The views from the bedroom balcony are one that you will never forget, a truely amazing view of the beech and the mountains and the Island of Telendos, and at sunset these views are spectacular. The hotel is paradise for rock climbers, as the mountain behind the hotel are one of the best. The hotel is a short walk into Massouri, away from the noise and hussel, a truely peaceful and somewhat romantic place to stay. Just a short walk from the hotel is a small beach that on some days is empty, the sea is crystal clear. Just a short walk to the town you can catch a boat over to the Island of Telendos for 2 euros, the island has no cars, just a few hotels and some lovely resturants for you to eat in, and feed the fish at the same time. The place to eat in Massouri is the Aegean Resturant, the most superb food you could eat, it is right overlooking the sea with views of Telendos and the service is second to none. All in all this is a fantastic hotel on a truely spectacular island......my best holiday ever

Room Tip: If you are staying at the Philoxenia a sea view room is a must, if you stay on the second floor your...
