Even more than Excellent place to stay! Everything was top. To rate the value I even need more than five dots. The lowest price we ever paid in many years of travelling in Greece. Absolute value. No doubts where to stay if I ever should return to Astypalea. Jean Jaminon

If you are looking for a beach resort with wall to wall night clubs and lots of watersports, for if you ever surface before sunset, please give this island a miss. But if you have outgrown that sort of stuff just like you once did with Lego, then come here. The little town is peaceful and quiet, white painted cubic buildings with bright blue doors and shutters – the perfect picture of a Greek island.

Our studio at Aphrodite was exceptionally well appointed. It had good kitchen facilities, even a milkshake maker and sandwich toaster. Also there was a steam iron with a washing line on the balcony, plus a safe in the wardrobe. Everything! The room was not big, but it lacked nothing. It had a great balcony, with panoramic views of the old harbour, castle and windmills. A huge bonus is the free transfer to and from the ferry port, which is 6 km on a winding road, and the Blue Star ferries all arrive and depart in the dead of night. We were collected at 4:00am to go to the port, and the housekeeper got up to make sure we were away on time. A fantastic service. The location is mid-way between the old harbour (NOT the ferry port) of Pera Gialos and the town centre of Chora, a 5 minute walk either way. Absolute top recommendation!!

There is a wonderful restaurant called Barbarossa serving the best local traditional food at fantastic prices with great Naxos wines by the carafe. From the main square of Chora by the windmills, with its row of cafes, walk 50 metres uphill towards the castle. The road curves right past the Island’s administrative offices on the right and Barbarossa is next to that. In Pera Gialos there are fabulous ice creams and coffee at the little café on the corner diagonally opposite where steps go down to the small beach, which is good for a swim.

Absolutely no negatives about the studio. Just be prepared for lots of steps, either up to Chora or down to Pera Gialos. Astypalaea is a best-kept secret.

Room Tip: Our room, number 19 had the best view from the balcony, number 18 would have been almost the same.

We stayed at Afroditi's studios 5 nights. The service was excellent, the owner (Mrs Angeliki) is very kind, every day she made cakes and sweets and brought us for breakfast (we hadnt paid for breakfast)
The room with the view is very nice. The room was very quiet, clean, and the distance from the windmills (centre) is about 10 minutes walking. Also the bus stop in the port is very close, around 5 minutes walking.
In general, very nice stay.

We reached Astypalaia at 3.30 in the morning and a mini bus was waiting for us in the port which is far away from Chora. When we arrived at our room, we were greeted with a freshly made home cake by Mrs. Aggeliki. The rooms had an incredible view of the castle and the sea, the rooms were amazingly clean and had everything that somebody needed even to cook. The location of the studios is just perfect, metres away from the bus stop, the bakery, the supermarket, the boat that takes to some small islands, the taxi stop, and just minutes away from Chora and the castle. For anything you need and for every information, Mrs Aggeliki is always happy to help you and answer all your questions. Last but not least, the prices of the rooms are very reasonable. Great vacations and a great place to stay!
