It is a great and unique forest in Greece, of Junipers(Cedars), which covers almost the entire sandy peninsula of "Kouroupia" cape, with an extent of 1000 acres! The rich flora of Alyko consisting of wild arborescent vegetation which includes the Junipers (Cedars), Arkefthous and Shcino. Τhe sovereignty of course is held by the Junipers which are met in the form of tree and bush reaching 4-5m height sometimes. The entire extent of the forest is covered by white sand and sand dunes. The age of many of the trees is estimated more than 200 years old! The forest is a nature protected area as it is a great shelter of small wild rabbits, birds and other animals.

This is the perfect beach for those of you who don't like all the beach chairs and crowds. You can almost always find a nice private quiet spot to enjoy this unique and gorgeous beach.

Some places I don't like reviewing for fear they will be swamped by drunk frat students on holiday. This is one of those places.

First of this is not a single beach. It's an area with around 5 unique beaches. Half of which is mixed nude beaches. The others are fairly conservative.

The 5 beaches are as follows.

Angali Glyfada~ Kastraki
Milkrolimano
Kredros
St. George
Hawaii
Angeli~Pyrgaki

If you go in the mornings the cliffs will give you some shade from the magnified sun that so common in Greece. Come the afternoon you'll need to bring some form of shade with you.

also bring lots of water and maybe a snack. There is a market and even a restaurant within within a 5 minute drive but who wants to lose their excusive little cove for that extra bottle of water.

Be responsible mature travelers....keep this place special.

After seeing many different beaches on many different islands, I have to say that Naxos has some of the most beautiful. We happened to be staying near Alyko so had the opportunity to explore the area thoroughly including experiencing some magnificent sunsets from the beaches. Make sure you 1) have loads of sun block and lots of water - these beaches are secluded and quiet so nowhere to buy these things! 2) have snorkelling gear so if you come upon a good spot you can go straight in 3) Don't forget to look for the famous shell 'the eye of naxos' which can only be found here!

I have been visited a lot of places in Greece , but Alyko just captured me with his beauty! Its a place where you can feel the beauty of the nature. Walking thru the forest its a very nice activiti, the sand is softer than on the beach... and the water of Alyko is so clear and a beautiful mix color between green and blue. I think that Alyko its a place where you can stay and enjoy in the same time the wildness of the nature and the gentleness of the sun.The Hawaii beach also is a place where i adore to stay, looks like a lagoon and sometimes i you can feel that is your private beach!
Also, the way that the sun is cuddling the sea in the evenings is a breathtaking view! If you arrive in Naxos, you definitely need to visit Alyko!
