We stayed at Themonies for a week at the end of July. Booked based on website reviews as we'd never been to Folegandros and thought we'd stay 'upmarket' rather than take a chance. We're glad we did. It's expensive, but everything is top notch. Breakfasts are fresh and delivered to your room, the accommodations are thoughtful, the views are interesting (but not overlooking the ocean) and the staff are VERY friendly and helpful. They are expensive, but in Europe you often DON'T get what you pay for, but here that's not the case. There are better positioned places in Folegandros from a view or location in town perspective, but Themonies folks made us feel very welcome and relaxed. You won't be let down by a visit there. They do need a pool for very hot days, there are quite a few other places that have pools, and they said they planned one. But hey, it's Greece right?! :)

Room Tip: all distinctly different! Enjoy each one for different reasons.

We ended up here after a night spent elsewhere on the island--what a relief! The rooms were large and airy, and the breakfast delivered to our suite each morning was quite good. Definitely at the top of the "breakfast with your room" that we had anywhere on the islands. The staff was friendly and made an effort to make us feel at home when we arrived somewhat frazzled from our travels. One thing to consider is that there is no pool--though one may be in the plans? Not a necessity by any means because it is easy enough and more fun to go to the various beaches on the island. We felt very taken care of here, and it is a short walk into town or really anywhere else on the island!

We were in Greece for our honeymoon and research said that Folegandros is a must see place. It's one of the tiniest inhabited Aegean islands and probably the most quaint of all that still retains tradition and still practice siesta because there aren't so many tourists in the island.
Themonies was such a beautiful hotel. It's not actually a hotel, but more of a homestay. Each suite is actually independent, from the main block where the owners stay. Everything was excellent from the personal pick up at the port, to the welcome at the Themonies. I don't know if it was this special because they knew it was our honeymoon, or they treat every guest as a VIP. We had little chocolate desserts and a bottle of wine awaiting us in our suite, with rose petals scattered on the floor leading to the room!
The place is soooo clean and so beautifully decorated. We wished we could take home the handcrafted tables and benches!
The view is also magnificent. From all the rooms and our outdoor breakfast area, we have the view of Folegandros' most famous church on top of the hill. Although it's not located within the hora, it's just a very short walk to town.
Breakfast was brought to our suites every morning and we could choose where to sit for breakfast in our suite. When the weather was good, we'd have it out on the terrace and soak in the sun.
Folegandros is a truly beautiful place to go get away from the rest of the crazy tourist crowds in Greece and Themonies is a truly excellent place to spend those peaceful days in.

I spent 5 days this August with my spouse in Themonies. It is a small architectural jewel, overlooking Chora (the main village of Folegandros) and within walking distance from it. The owners, a very friendly couple , have paid attention in every detail making the suites pleasant to stay and at the same time respecting the local architecture and tradition.
Every room in the hotel is different and all of them quite atmospheric. They are well suited for a romantic escape as they are aesthetically beautiful, quite and privacy is protected due to the small size of the resort.
The place is well recommended for those that prefer atmosphere and design of their suite over the amenities of a hotel.
Having said about amenities, a swimming pool would be well suited for the place, for those days someone is to lazy to move to the beautiful beaches of the island. As I was told there are plans to built one in the future.
