The cave is very interesting and well lit, it has over 400 steps leading down to three caverns full of stalagmites and stalactites. There are some inscriptions dating from the 1600's.

“Worth a vist”

What we don' like is that it is Not for the claustrophobic. Fun for the entire family, specially the bus ride out there.

Besides being a huge cave with a heavy duty stairway built into it, the wall writings provide historical insights. Plus it's only a 15 minute drive/bus ride from the village along a beautiful seashore road.

Amazing experience to walk into the depths of Antiparos and hear about the history of the the island. The walk back up is strenuous but it is well worth it. The drive up gives you a great perspective of the island and the view from the top is breathtaking

“Fantastic! and guess what: there is more!”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

They say you have to descend 411 steps, so I started counting, but couldn't appreciate the whole scenery, and I stopped :) I believe them!
If you can make it to the end, you can see an inscription from "Othon" king of Greece (back in the 19th century...), but here is the catch:
there is a hidden crack on the rocks, they say it leads to other caves, going down all the way to sea level!! I saw it on a tv documentary and asked the locals if it is true and they said it is! And it is magnificent! I guess we will have to wait a 100 years until they can open it for the public.
Anyway, as it is now, it is spectacular, if you can ignore the fact that so many stalagmites are broken and brutally vandalised... You see, the cave was open and unguarded until recently!
