Amorgos itself is a little gem. Peaceful and quiet you can easily find spots by cliffs and beaches where you are completely by yourself. Don't expect much nightlife - this is for people who wish to come down and relax.
The Chora is unique and very authentic with nice restaurants and bars. No cars are allowed into it so you can enjoy walking around. Watch your step tho as the stone paths are sometimes slippery...

Whether you are staying in Katapola of Aigiali it would be crazy not to visit Chora and spend some time walking around the lovely streets of Chora. It is not the best Chora in Greece but it is very nice. You should even consider soaking in the atmosphere of the bougainvillea lined streets sitting in a cafe or taverna having a coffee, beer or meal. On warm, balmy evenings this can be lovely

Consider combining a visit to Chora with a visit to the marvellous Monastery Panagia Hozoviotissa some 30 - 45 minutes walk away. You do not need to follow the road - there is a path that people can point out to you

There is a really good view from the 'Castro' on the highest point in Chora. The last time we visited we were able to borrow the huge key to enter from the cafe on the left with your back to the Castro on the big square below. You have to leave a passport or credit card as a deposit as the key is so precious!

By day, it's quite picturesque... A typical Cycladic village: narrow streets, ancient kastro, and so on. By night, it's mainly a long and narrow street with plenty of nice little restaurants and bars... And you'll enjoy an unusual quietness, as there are no cars (but the roads and parkings are close by). When visiting Amorgos, a stay of 2 or 3 nights in Chora is really a must!
