Stayed at Villa Joanna for 12 days in August. Landed at Chania Airport and collected hire car via a company called Greenways, There was a problem with the hire car but all got sorted and the journey to the villa was easy, some instructions were abit amiss but eventually found villa and it was beautiful
Set atop of a small gorge the view out to sea was lovely and the surroundings were spectacular. Very peaceful, large villa with 4 bedrooms, 2 downstairs, 2 up stairs, 2 balconys of the 2 upstairs bedrooms with a jack and jill bathroom. The kitchen was well equiped with all mod cons and easy use of oven, hob, microwave etc. plenty of cuterley, plates, bowls, cups, glasses etc. We did request a welcome hamper via the booking agents but unfortunately that was not supplied but the owner of the villa was there to meet us and he took us down to the nearest supermarket.
The beds are quite hard but comfortable enough, the airconditioning is only in the bedrooms and the doors have to be kept shut for it to work efficiently.
The owners son left us his mobile number and told us to contact him at anytime for advice or help with anything which i thought was a lovely touch as it did help. We were greeted with a small craft of Hariki and shot glasses (nice) and the son also produces his own honey which he left us (amazing). The villa is just like the photos, open plan downstairs, large spaces comfortable sofas and perfect outside seating. The pool is lovely as it also has a small round childs pool.
Everything about the villa is beautiful the owners son did most of the work on the villa and the craftsman ship is outstanding and the interior design is top class.
Rethymon is about 10 mins drive away and a beautiful small city with lots of culture ans many amazing restaurants and bars along the front and also down the litlle back streets. We got taxis on two occasions to the marina/centre, costing 10 euros each way as the centre does get very busy at night and parking can be a small problem. Taxis will only take 4 persons.

Did it have everything we needed - yes
Was it clean - yes (cleaners came every 3 days, cleaned house and pool, bedding and towels)
Was there a safe in the villa - yes
We hired some quad bikes for 2 days from the car rental company - that was great fun and we found our own way around on them, very easy.
All in all an amazing villa, beautiful surroundings, stunning scenery, enjoyed and loved by all.

As a family group of six we arrived to find Villa Joanna beautifully finished and maintained.
The villa is so comfortable and inviting that we need to return to Crete as there is so much that we didn't get out and about to see.
The hosts, Manolis & Vaggeils, were very warm and welcoming and happy to help with anything from wood for the wood oven to suggestions on where to eat and what to explore.
The property affords a lovely aspect down a valley to the coast and nearby town of Rethymno which in itself provides amble eateries, supermarkets and tourist attractions.
The villa is well equipped and certainly more than spacious enough for the six of us with three out of the four bedrooms having ensuite facilities.
We would not hesitate to highly recommend Villa Joanna to anyone looking for a fantastic place to chill-out and a base from which to enjoy Crete. Don't forget to try the honey from the hives visible from the villa - it is sweet experience.

1 review Hi am writing this review to tell you how great my vacations was at the Johanna villa. We stayed there for 8 days with 8 adults. The villa was beautiful as it was in the pictures big enough and comfortable, everyone had its own space to relax. The outdoor space and the swimming pool were fantastic with a charming view over the mountains and the sea. The villa is located near the old town of Rethymno and its close to shops and restaurants although it’s up on a hill which requires a car for travelling. The owner of the villa was superb and fully helpful to us he also gave us some advices and very good suggestions for cheap and delicious restaurants we are definitely booking here again!!
