We have chosen Hotel Leo based on feedback from TA reviewers and as always, you guys didn't let us down! The hotel was exactly what we expected. The rooms were beautifully restored and tastefully decorated. Comfortable and spacious. Some reviewers mentioned it could be quite noisy as it was located near restaurants and bars. It totally wasn't a problem for us, perhaps because it was still not peak tourist season yet and we have requested and were given a room on the 2nd floor, facing the little alley (above the hotel main door).

Owner Eleni and her staff, Stella, couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. They provided a lot of useful information and recommendation. Eleni even went out of her way to ensure that guests didn't get bored of the food by varying the breakfast every day! We stayed for 4 nights and we got four different but equally delicious types of breakfast.

In terms of amenities, Hotel Leo is not comparable to a 4 or 5 star hotel (which it is not and shouldn't be compared to!), but what it offers is way more than adequate and better than most hotels in similar category. Rooms have hot water, hair dryer and are fully air-conditioned, and not to mention, free internet. With only three storeys, Hotel Leo doesn't have an elevator - this is not a problem for us but people who are less mobile or travel with huge luggages should take note.

The location is fantastic! Right in the middle of the charming old town, with easy access to many restaurants, cafes, shops, the fortezza and waterfront. As some reviewers mentioned, it was a little challenging finding the hotel initially, partly because it wasn't directly accessible by car. But again, that's part of the charm of being right in the centre of the old town. With Eleni's advice, we managed to find some free parking about 10-15 min walk from the hotel. It was a little challenging with the luggage but definitely not a problem and no one should be put off choosing the hotel because of this. We really couldn't have asked for a better location.

We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Leo. Would highly recommend it and won't hesitate to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in the Hotel Leo on our first trip to Greece. We took the overnight ferry from Athens to Heraklion (great trip) and then a bus to Rethymnon and a taxi to the hotel. The hotel has a wonderful relaxed (but not casual) feel to it which would be due to the very pleasant staff who obviously care about the place. The owner works on the reception desk at times so she must keep a close eye on things.
The hotel used to be her family home and the gorgeous room we stayed in which overlooked the laneway was her old room. The bathroom was a bit dated but clean and quite spacious. The room was lovely with all that we needed including a flat screen TV and internet connection. The price was so reasonable and the location is in such a lovely town that it is hard to better.

We arrived by bus and walked to the Hotel Leo and had no trouble finding it. Located in Old Town, the Hotel Leo is a 1400's Venetian villa with only eight rooms. Beautifully restored and recently updated. Excellent service and great breakfast. Our room was quite large with a balcony and the bathroom was one of the largest and most modern I've ever seen in Europe. The only downside was that our room face the front street, not the alley, and there was a lot of noise at night. Overall, I would stay there again in a minute.

Hotel Leo is very charming....however it is a nightmare to find when you first arrive. There is no parking anywhere near the hotel, meaning you have to park far away and drag your luggage down the narrow streets, while you are totally confused about where you are going. The staff was very helpful and friendly...they actually let us check out one night early because we had an early flight out of Iraklion and we were worried about getting out of there and having to drag our luggage back to our car early in the morning. It was also very noisy at night because it is near bars and cafes where people stay out until very early in the morning. We would probably not stay here again, but it is only because of the undesirable location.

The room we stayed was huge, nicely decorated with taste and high quality. The hotel as a whole is clean and well lit (not bright, well lit). The breakfast which was also more than enough, but normal for Greek standards was served in the alley in fron of the hotel on nice wooden tables. Staff are nice and helpful. The location is excellent, although they do not have a parking space, the port parking lot is 2 minutes walk, and if you can park anywhere else for free, just do it. I don't know what else you can expect from a hotel.
