“What a wonderful hotel”
Reviewed June 3, 2009

Let me start by saying a big thank you to all the previous reveiwers, without your comments I wouldn't have found such a wonderful hotel to stay in. The hotel is right in the heart of the old venetian town which adds to its charm, its excellent cusomer care and rooms provide a focal point to start your holiday from. Harriet and Antonis are a font of information and nothing is to small to ask for, Always ask them for places where to eat and they will recommend some excellent taverners. Two we thought deserved a mention are 'The Lemon tree garden' and the 'To Pigadi', which have an excellent menu's.

The Palazzo Rimondi has a beautiful setting in the old town of Rethymnon. It is very well situated for restaurants, shops and the beach. It is a beautiful and characterful historic building, immaculately restored. It has a unique individual character, almost like staying in someone's beautiful house rather than a hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The sheltered courtyard is an oasis of calm with an inviting plunge pool. The courtyard is also the setting for delicious breakfasts and evening drinks. The manager, Harriet, and her assistant Adonis are friendly without being intrusive. We wish them every success and congratulate them on running such an attractive and welcoming hotel.

A really characterful hotel in the Venetian Old Town of Rythmno. There is a feel-good factor about this place, and the ambiance at breakfast, sitting in the courtyard round the plunge pool with an azure sky above with the odd crocodile of trippers following a raised furled umbrella peering through the wrought iron gates at "real Crete" was great. We had no trouble at all with noise, and the air conditioning both worked and was quiet.

If you are coming independantly get a map beforehand or you might be in for a long search (like us!). Car parking is a nightmare and you may have to resort to organised car parks - we paid 5 euros for upto 24 hours.

The housekeeping was efficient and the front of house staff were friendly, helpful and quite delightful.

Our room consisted of a sitting area, kitchenette area and miniscule shower room/WC with a stair leading to a bedroom and balcony with comfortable (not plastic) chairs and a parasol.

When we booked we had the last room according to the website so there was no escaping the rack rate tariff of 200 euros per night which was full.

In September Crete is awash with oranges so why the orange squash for breakfast?

Just returned from a week's holiday at the Palazzo Rimondi. Because of the location of the hotel ,we were met by the hotel manager who helped with our luggage and guided us to our hotel. Palazzo Rimondi is situated in the heart of the old town .Our room, overlooking the pool, was very clean and we were delighted with the kitchenette and the mezzanine bedroom. The hotel serves a good buffet breakfast including bacon! Try their Greek yoghurt and honey.....just delicious! We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and will do their best to sort out any problems.

The location of the hotel is brilliant...just step out of the hotel courtyard into the hustle and bustle of the old town with it's narrow streets full of shops, taverna's and restaurants, and beautiful old Venetian architecture. There is a fantastic choice of eating places and the ones we dined at served certainly did Cretan cooking credit.
The hotel is small, but so charming and different to the larger hotels we have stayed in. The rooms overlook the court yard, where tables are set out and breakfast is served. There is also a small pool there which is adequate and there is a sunroof complete with loungers. But the atmosphere here is one of peace and tranquility and a perfect escape from our increasingly busy life styles. We have returned from our holiday feeling so relaxed. Would we return to the Palazzo? Definitely!!

This hotel lives up to its publicity. It's a delightful, peaceful oasis in the middle of the hustle & bustle of the Old Town. The included air conditioning is a great bonus. A good buffet breakfast is served with plenty of variety to choose from. The owner & manager were very accommodating in keeping our room free for us to use before a very late night departure. We paid a fee for this but it was well worth it as we were able to enjoy our holiday right up to our 12.30am pick-up. There are lots of excellent restaurants just a stroll away. We weren't disturbed by any noise at all - even sitting peacefully by the pool at 1.00am. There is a very friendly atmosphere & we enjoyed the company of the other guests at breakfast & around the pool. Our shower was small but perfectly adequate. We had a small balcony overlooking the pool & courtyard - it was a tight fit, but for us much more preferable than the usual bog standard balcony with plastic furniture. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to our friends.

I loved this hotel. My partner and I stayed in a studio which was fully air conditioning (with no local charge unlike most hotels in Crete). The room was basic but a lot more than would usually be expected from a B & B based hotel. Our balcony was over looking the pool and we experienced no noise during our stay. The breakfast was great (Greek yogurt with Greek honey drizzled over it was to die for).

This is a perfect couples hotel set right in the heart of the old town with hundreds of restaurants to satisfy your appetite. We ate out in a mixture of different priced restaurants and not one complaint about any. The Greek hospitality is brilliant and their number one priority is to make you happy. If you do venture around the harbour for a more expensive meal try Tabepna restaurant which is a family run restaurant which has been in the owners family for 50 years.

This is a hotel we will defiantly be coming back to. Not one complaint.

It is a very nice little hotel in the middle of the old town of Rethymnon. We staid in an appartement and had all we needed. A seperated bedroom and two sofa beds in an other room. We had two nice little balcony's and even a little kitchen. The hotel is verry classy and the staf is very friendly. The owner is a Dutch lady and she'll do anything to make you feel at home. The swimming pool is rather small, but i think it is more for decoration. The area aroud it is very romantik with nice little tables and candles in the evening. You only have breakfest but ever day something else. You can enjoy it on the nice little patio. For dinner, not to worry...This hotel is in the heart of the old town. You'll find restaurants on every corner of the street. But the reason I would not go back there is only because of the kids. The swinmming pool is not quit suitebla for young children but lovely for a quick dive or just to enjoy. The staff is very friendly for kids and the love to hear the sounds of playing children in the pool. Maybe I'll go back when the children are a bit older but even for a romantic holiday i would recommend this hotel. It will be a great honymoon!
