We had a great time in this villa. Perfectly cared for, very well maintained and just as beautiful as in the photos. Everything was right. The owner and his family are very friendly, involved and always available for questions. The villa is beautiful; spacious, neat, clean and nothing is missing. The garden is also wonderful for relaxing, playing and dining; full of beautiful flowers and plants, including a lovely pool and also a nice place to sit in the shade or sun. I recommend this villa to everyone, without a doubt! Both for families (with small children) and groups of friends.
The beautiful villa is in a lovely little village with great views in all directions. It has plenty of space indoor and out with the added kind welcoming hospitality from the hosts. There is plenty to do in the area, pretty seaside villages, ancient churches and archaeological sites but it was also lovely to sit or play in the pool. We hope to return some day soon.
Our last villa holiday was in pre-internet times when our kids were young. Last winter, when my daughter suggested a family holiday in a villa in Crete my first reaction was to send her links to the multitude of villa scam stories in various consumer advice columns. Given the obvious risks, I was very cautious but to my great relief we made a connection with Kostas at Etouri who turned out not just to be a real person, but someone with a refined sense of customer service and a comprehensively all-embracing approach to looking after guests and their various needs. Kostas and his team recommended a number of good car hire companies; they gave advice on travel around the island, on where to eat and places to see and they kept in touch throughout the holiday - never in an intrusive way - but just to check that everything was as expected and that we were getting the best out of our holiday. Other visitors have said everything there is to say about this wonderful property and more importantly the various Vasilakis family members whose kindness and generosity is such an important part of the Villa Eleftherna experience so I would only add that this was a wonderful family holiday, made possible by Kostas and his team and by this very special villa in its beautiful hilltop setting. Finally, if you do visit, it's worth noting that the area around the village of Eleftherna is of major archaeological significance and acknowledging this, the Greek Government established the Museum of Ancient Eleutherna. This beautiful museum - only the fourth in Greece to focus on a single archaeological site - after Olympia, Delphi and Vergina - is just a ten minute walk from the Villa and not to be missed.
We spent a week in the lovely Villa Eleftherna as an extended family of seven, including a five month old baby. From beginning to end the entire booking process was easy and well-organised with excellent communication from the villa's rental team, who were extremely responsive to messages and questions.
On arrival it was clear that everything in the villa was done to a very high standard with lots of hard work and care having gone into it. The owner Giorgos is such a kind man, and him and his family were all so generous and friendly - even sharing their Easter lamb with us the day after we arrived! What we really appreciated were the small touches - roses in the vase, complimentary home-made wine, raki and olive oil, and eggs and oranges for the baby from grandma! It was lovely and we were all very touched to receive such generous hospitality.
The outdoor spaces and garden are stunning and just perfect for a relaxing holiday. The views of the mountains and the sea were amazing. Although you could easily spend the entire week simply relaxing in the villa it is well worth getting out to explore the local area, which is really special. Springtime was a lovely time to visit with all the flowers and the temperature not too hot.
We were also contacted by the rental team's holiday advisor during our stay who was able to give us recommendations for places to eat and things to see, which was a nice touch.
Don't miss this lovely villa if you are simply looking for a lovely family holiday, it is a real gem.
If you are looking for a place to stay in an authentic Cretan village then look no further. Elevated up in the mountains sits this stunning property which is finished to a very high standard with views you can only dream of, looking across rolling mountain olive groves and to the sea. If you want to experience how the local people live with a few traditional tavernas and a small village shop ( all within a walk away) from the tourists then this is for you. Rethymno Marina and the beach are about a 30 minute drive away, a car is a must for getting around and if you want to look around the island. George the owner makes you feel very welcome with gifts of home produced honey and olive oil. Nothing is too much trouble. We will be recommending the villa to other people as you cannot fault the property in the location if you are looking for this type of holiday.
Villa Eleftherna is really a wonderful place to stay, with a nice urban surrounding and with a huge garden (the Pizza oven works very well!) including a great swimmingpool. The owners are very friendly and helpful at any time. We had very relaxing holidays at this beautiful place and can recommend it to everybody.
We had a fantastic time at Villa Eleftherna. The vila itself is beautiful, fantastically equipped and spotlessly clean. The surrounding gardens are a delight and wonderfully maintained. The pool a sparkling blue oasis on a sunny day. We were blown away by welcome gifts of home-made olive oil, wine, honey and the most amazing fruit basket I've ever seen! The village is a pleasant 3 minute stroll away with easy access to the most welcoming tavernas and importantly - ice-cream!
We spent a couple of days in Rethymno (approx 25 minutes away), enjoying the old town, a fantastic frozen yoghurt shop (Yaourtaki) and jumping over ways in the sea. We visited Arkadi monastery (just down the road and very interesting); Limnopoulis water park (clean, fun and relaxing); Bali beach, and courtesy of the owners, Baja Beach Club which was delightful.
There are a number of attractive villas in the area, but surely what sets Villa Eleftherna apart is the care taken of you by George (the owner) and his family and team. Never intrusive, but totally approachable, generous, hospitable to an amazing degree, and totally taking care in ensuring that visitors to Villa Eleftherna have an amazing holiday. Highly recommended!
