The Venetian Harbour isn't so much an attraction than a place itself. Its the old harbour of Rethymnon. It has a handful of boats and the Barbarossa pirate ship style boat that docks there too.

It is full of life and such a charm to visit. If you walk down the main coastal road from all the hotels & resorts you will eventually see bars and restaurants as you enter the old harbour. Its incredibly pretty with amazing restaurants (I recommend Zefyros) and a lighthouse with old stone wall. I guess the annoying part for frequent visitors or just in general is that Restauranteurs or Hosts always try and hassle you into their restaurant. Of course I found if you subtly brush them off with a bit of charm they are fine, as its a numbers game for them essentially and quite alot of them are fairly jolly people anyway! Nonetheless its quite irritating if you just want to see the sights.

That said, the harbour is quaint and vibrant with great food and life! I really liked the elderly greek men sat by the harbour fishing for hours on end and children cycling around without a care in the world!

Definitely worth a visit as part of a day out or evening spent looking for seafood!

Nice, small streets, small but good restaurants, quite picturesque, fun to walk or cycle. In the evenings it gets too crowded and can get very hot.

I think we ventured down into the Venetian harbour most days. I particularly liked it for late morning coffee when its less popular. The cafe bar owners are very funny and they don't 'hound' you anywhere like what people suggest, have a laugh with them they are fine. The water is so clear and bustling with life its a great place to sit back and feel that you're somehwere really special.

The old venetian harbor could be a fantastic place, if there aren't all those fish taverns, which press you to sit and leave no space to walk or stand for a minute. It's a pity...
