It's a beautiful old town. Some of the streets have lots of shops and / or restaurants. The shops are very repetitive - lots selling the same silver jewellery. Some of the restaurants are in incredibly beautiful old buildings - I don't know how expensive they were but it would be a treat to eat in some of them.
The venetian harbour is not that amazing and when you walk around it you get a lot of hassle from people trying to get you in their restaurants and I met people who had had really rip-off meals there.
The best bit was wandering the very pretty streets that had no shops and also finding odd things like the old mosque.
If you want a very cheap and filling snack I recommend Souvlitsa - a brilliant little souvlaki place that also does lovely falafel wraps and other things (same price eat in or takeaway). It is on the corner of Koroneou and Karai.
