“A great stay in Rethymnon with the friendliest service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

We just had one of best holidays ever at the Delfini Beach Hotel, it was a big change for us to stay in a small family run hotel like this and a welcome one too! Nothing we asked was too much trouble for the owners and their helpfulness and enthusiasm made our stay so special.
The view from our room over to the fortezza was spectacular and did not fail to blow us away every morning. Ok so when we first arrived the room did seem very basic to us, but in the morning when we went to the terrace for our breakfast and sat right by the sea, found not a buffet but the most bubbly girl in the world ready to take an order for whatever we wanted we were thrilled.May I also add that if the kitchen could not make what you asked for then the next day the shopping had been done and the option was there, also every day at the end of breakfast a surprise treat came! Highly recommended, its not often we go to the same place twice but we already plan to return to Delfini Beach.

Room Tip: Do ask for a sea view when you book- breathtaking veiw and also a large patio rather than a small ba...

We just had a lovely time at hotel delfini, very friendly family hotel with great service, lovely owners who were very helpful and enthusiastic, a good restaurant with a perfect seaside terrace with a lovely view over the bay and fortress of Rethymnon, at walking distance from the town center. nice original menu wit diversity of mediterenean specialties . The rooms are spacious 2 floors with dining area and seats and a small kitchen ..good beds and a big bathroom..the showers could be a little bigger to our opinion but they were planned to be renovated.. definitly a good recommendation for a nice stay in Rethymnon.. far a way from the comercial big tourist area ..nice private beach with lounge chairs..and a morning view from the terrace which just blows you away.. a lovely patio with a small beautifully decorated pool the building is an old venetian style mansion with lots of beautiful details.

Room Tip: seavieuw there are rooms at the big terace ideal for kids to play and some with small romantic balc...

We travelled to Casa de Delfini in July 2011 and were terribly disappointed with our room. It was very dark inside and in bad need of a complete refurbishment. The bathroom was very small and the air conditioning unit was falling apart. The swimming pool is little more than a splash pool and it is in shade at the front door of the building. When in bed the water pipe is right above your head and you can hear all the water run through when the toilet is flushed in the upstairs room. It was a bit like living in a cave for a week.

Area:
Beautiful spot right on the seaside. The sound of the waves is so relaxing!
At the restaurant (called “Pastopeeon” ) there is an excellent yard next to the sea with beautiful view of the castle.
We were spending most of our time there eating well cooked Greek food, drinking coffee, playing backgammon or just relaxing and chatting with the owners.
The 20 min walk to the old city of Rethymnon is not easy, because there are no pavements and the traffic is severe.
Building and rooms:
The public areas of this beautiful old building are nicely renovated and decorated. On the contrary, rooms are old and abandoned. The old furniture is without style. The double mattress we had in our room was at least 20 years old and destroyed! The air-condition unit was too small for the room. The shower too small (with a curtain) and the water at the shower head had little pressure. It wasn't the cleanest room we have ever visited in a hotel. Ants were all over the bathroom.
The reason that half of the building is amazing and the other half almost falling apart, is because there are two different owners. One owner for the rooms, and another for the restaurant! I hope room-owner will think of a renovation.
Services:
All personnel were friendly and helpful.
The Wi-Fi internet connection is working only in the restaurant area.
The breakfast is basic but good enough and serving fresh orange juice! The only thing we couldn't understand was why the preparation of a fresh juice was taking place hours before you drink it. We advise you when you check in to ask for our juice to be prepared by your arrival at the restaurant in the morning. We did so ourselves.

We stayed in hotel Delfini in Rethymnon during the pre-season. The rooms are spacious and not a standard hotel room. The staff was helpfull and, maybe because it wasn't top season, had all the time for us. Breakfast is nothing special, but its fine. The pool is quite small, but it match with the hotel and because there are a small number of rooms, its not a problem. In fact, although the hotel was fully booked, we were almost always alone in the pool.
The most noticable part of the hotel is the terrace where breakfast and diner is serverd and the diner itself. The terrace lays direct next to the sea and was the reason I stood op earlier every day. The diner is well known by Crete people and during the weekends its crowded by locals. Tip: if you want to dine here in the weekends make a reservation the day before.

We have just returned from a week at the Delphini Hotel in Rethymno. Although the building itself is at a perfect location on the seaside with views of the Rethymno castle the hotel is very poorly ran.
We visited this hotel with another couple and upon our arrival we were informed that the four of us would have to sleep in the same room on our last night of stay as they had some problems with the bookings! We had booked two double rooms and had also paid the deposit necessary for the booking! As the manager could not offer an alternative, we had to find on our own somewhere else to stay for the last night .
We were given one sea-view and one pool-view room (the pool is really small!!). The toilet flush was broken in the pool-view room and although we did ask the manager to fix it asap the plumber came three days later so we spent three days mopping the bathroom floor every few hours!
The hotel has a very nice seafront restaurant which however proved also to be a problem. The restaurant's kitchen ventilator (a really big one!) is located just outside room no 103 which was the sea view room assigned to us. Furthermore the verntlator's chimney runs up to room 203. The restaurant operates from 12:30 pm to 1:30 am which makes it impossible to stay and even worse sleep in these rooms while the kitchen is open. We did mention this to the manager but the was no other room available.
Overall I would say this was one of the worse hotels we have stayed in and it is a pitty the the poor management and bad planning of the restaurant has ruined such a beautiful site.
